WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

This role would suit someone experience within Procurement, who is CIPS qualified or has equivalent experience, and who is looking for a Supervisory / Senior level role.

  • Proven Category Lead experience within a similar role – Supervisor / Senior level
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a Procurement role
  • CIPS Qualified is desirable, or equivalent experience – please note if not qualified, we would request the selected candidate to achieve this with our support.
  • Strong negotiation skills both verbally and in writing is essential
  • Excellent decision making and communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships at senior and executive management levels
  • Full UK driving licence to allow for travel around the Scottish Ports as required
  • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Excel and Word
  • Experience of working with Purchase to Pay systems
  • Full UK working rights

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a newly created opportunity for a Procurement Team Leader where you will offer direct support to our Senior Procurement Manager on the day-to-day supervision of the department. Whilst our team is based in Grangemouth, we are flexible to hear from individuals based across the central belt who would be comfortable with travelling to our Grangemouth port each week.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Develop and implement long term procurement strategies for spend within the Scottish Operation
  • Directly supervise 4 members of staff, ranging from admin to experienced Category Lead
  • Manage relationships and lead on negotiations with suppliers and stakeholders which balances with the quality of service and value for money
  • Analyse data driven from the Purchase to Pay system to achieve synergies within the Scottish Operation
  • Ensure all contracts fulfil the Company’s statutory obligations, health and safety legislation and relevant Company policies
  • Support with arranging regular Team meetings/training sessions to review workload split and discuss process improvements
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach for the Procurement service provided to the Scottish Operation
  • Help to ensure the Procurement team receive training to enable them to complete all aspects of their job
  • Support the Senior Procurement Manager with initiatives, project work and also deputise for the SPM when required
