Description:

COMPLIANCE AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Gourmet du Village founded in 1982 is an established company in the Gourmet food market. We are located in Morin Heights in the Laurentians.
We are both a manufacturer and distributor of shelf stable gourmet food items, shipped and sold across Canada, the USA as well as some export to other countries.

Main functions:

  • Working with Marketing on recipe + new product development
  • Update and maintain product specification sheets
  • Update and maintain filling sequence for production (in order by allergen)
  • Conduct testing on incoming batches of product (sensory, taste, gluten, lead…)
  • Keeping up to date on FDA & CFIA food labelling regulations
  • Stay up-to-date on industry regulations (CFIA + FDA) and best practices
  • Perform internal audits
  • Maintain and improve procedures for quality control
  • Ensure application of all QC procedures
  • Ensure conformity with allergen issues
  • Ensure traceability of food products
  • Monitoring and ensuring supplier compliance (documentation, registration etc..)
  • Investigate any compliance issues or concerns and collaborate with departments to monitor compliance efforts
  • Calculate and declare nutritional values for products (using data provided from suppliers and calculating using existing excel database)
  • Updating and maintaining customs declaration database (HTS codes, country of origin, Manufacturers ID #’s) – with assistance from our customs brokers where needed.
  • Proof reading and verification of accuracy of packaging declarations

Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years experience in a similar field/background
Requirements:
Computer proficiency: knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
Bilingual (written and spoken) English and French
Problem solving + Critical thinking
Multi-tasking
Strong interpersonal skills
Have minimal skills in:
Formulate serving suggestions for preparations and recipes
Perform/prepare test recipes for new and existing products
