Position Overview
Are you curious about what’s going on in the world, perhaps a news media reader? Do you feel excited about designing the next generation of a world class AI-integrated news reading experience? Do you love engaging with people (ie., teammates, stakeholders and customers) to bring about innovation? If so, read on!
The Globe is seeking a contract Senior Product Designer for 18 months to be a part of the team that creates compelling user experiences for The Globe and Mail’s website and apps. Bring your experience building and shipping complex applications and software to play a key role in ensuring that we continually evolve the user experience to be personally rewarding for our readers.

What can you expect during your first year at The Globe? You will:

• Design world-class experiences that will increase audience engagement and support editorial storytelling in a way that feels simple, elegant and understandable
• Break down and solve problems through the full range of UX activities from problem definition, concept development, prototyping and testing, creating new UI elements — all of which will elevate the user experience across all digital products
• Evolve our design system to ensure consistency across platforms and products
• Conduct research and feedback sessions with our readers to explore problems and iterate design solutions
• Continuously collaborate with other designers, product managers, developers, and stakeholders in other departments from discovery through to delivery.

VACCINATION POLICY:

All offers of employment with The Globe and Mail are conditional upon the candidate being Fully Vaccinated. To be Fully Vaccinated is defined as someone who has received the full series of a vaccine or a combination of vaccines accepted by the Government of Canada (currently Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Janssen) and has received the last dose at least 14 days prior to their start date.
