Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

 The Product Development Engineer is responsible for collaborating with cross-functional team to generate, conceptualize, and design innovative and attainable products.
 They also performing rapid prototyping, quantifying the result based on data measurements, and presenting products and product improvements that are available to manufacture at a price we are willing to pay.
 They also identify opportunities for improving our existing product designs and manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
 They apply creative problem solving techniques to overcome design challenges.
 They do this by understanding the purpose of our products, and the performance level and quality that we need to achieve.
 They use numerical, and logical, methods to test their theories with a “fail fast” mentality.
 They draw on their experience in product design to utilize sustainable and cost effective manufacturing partners and technologies to produce innovative results.
 They will manage product development projects from concept through to production hand-off, ensuring timelines, budget constraints, and targets in production quality and productivity are met.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrated creative “out-of-the-box” problem solving skills and attention to detail  Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a small team setting
 Demonstrated experience in product design and prototyping; experience in design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA)
 Experience in designing aluminum extrusion systems, and sheet metal assembles
 Intermediate skills in Excel
 Confident in light hands-on fabrication work
 Knowledge or experience in steel frame construction and drywall installation is an asset
 Understanding of LEAN manufacturing, culture and tools
 Demonstrated ability to document processes and procedures
 Able to set, manage, and achieve multiple project goals, having deliverables coming from other stakeholders and/or a project team.
 Demonstrated professional communication skills in liaising with various departments and outside vendors.
 Keenness to roll up your sleeves and get involved in the work!
 Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment by complying with relevant company policies and procedures.
 Keep detailed and comprehensive files and records related to accountabilities

Responsibilities:

Able to design, prototype, test, coordinate manufacturing, and create QA plans for products that meet our customers expectation
 Able to define the manufacturing methods and machinery that meets our production requirements, including documentation and training of staff.
 Participates in continuous improvement activities with staff, in a collaborative and positive manner.
 Communicate and collaborate in a professional and effective manor.
 Able to apply advanced design techniques to develop, maintain, and improve our existing products.
 Use Lean ideologies and tools to identify and implement new manufacturing technologies, processes, or equipment to increase efficiency
 Implement knowledge of DFMA processes to increase efficiency and productivity
 Apply advanced design techniques to develop, maintain, and improved product assemblies.
 Stay current with the market changes in our industry, and the activities of the competition.
 Search for new materials and processes that can be used or adapted to improve processes at Bauco.
 Demonstrate creativity in solutions.
 Demonstrate proficiency in engineering principles and design tools including traditional theory, manual calculation solutions and software solutions (i.e. 3D Modeling, Drafting, FEA and Numerical Modeling).
 Ensure full engineering practices, compliance with recognized standards and testing procedures are adhered to.
 Develop, create, and maintain Quality Systems that are embedded into testing and manufacturing process.
 Perform root cause analysis of manufacturing non-conformances and recommend solutions.
 Employ thorough analysis methodology and strong analytical decision-making in all aspects of engineering activities.
 Define and document product test parameters
 Utilize project planning tools and organization methods to specify project milestones and estimate timelines to complete tasks.
 Assist in creating and tracking ECR & NCR processes
