Description:

Responsible for developing new financial products/exchange traded and cleared contracts and technology solution products (electronic trading environment and tools). Ensures the competitiveness of existing products. Strengthens the sales effort by working with marketing and sales staff to define competitive market requirements and opportunities. May provide input to new system development. Interacts with management in other areas in coordination and integration of products and services. May be responsible for product pricing, packaging and some revenue-generating responsibilities. Depending on organizational structure, the product delivery and implementation function may report to this position. May have full product management responsibility, including modeling of profit & loss and risk control.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Lead the product development life cycle for each new opportunity: gathering requirements and specifications, backtesting and associated data analysis, QA testing, documentation, and productionization.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure a successful and timely launch.
  • Collaborate with Index Licensing to evaluate the merits of new business opportunities.
  • Take part in due diligence exercises related to partnerships with external platforms to aid in index calculation and launch.
  • Develop design briefs for new product ideas, including specifications, documentation and/or models to present a clear, focused concept for client and partner consideration.
  • Design, articulate, and implement a compelling vision for Nasdaq’s long-term growth strategy within derivatives-based investment strategies.

Other responsibilities:

  • Work with the Technology team and other internal stakeholders to set a strategy and roadmap of how to incorporate new technologies and system builds to increase output, transparency, and consistency of derivatives-based index calculations.
  • Evaluate new data sets for usage in index calculation, looking at data quality, completeness, and fit for index purposes.
  • Help establish index calculation standards to enable repeat application of calculation modules.
  • Provide specification for automated index calculation framework.
  • Provide post-launch support to Operations, Research, and Marketing.

The Level of Experience We Expect:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in a Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5-7 years prior experience working with derivatives and financial indexing at an index provider, investment bank, or asset management firm.

The Technical Skills We Expect:

  • Experience with methodology writing and editing, including methodology formulae.
  • Strong background in index and financial mathematics, including options pricing.
  • Ability to perform data and complex statistical analysis using R, Python, and SQL.
  • Ability to perform gap analysis/due diligence on external platforms.
  • Experience with calculation platform specification and defining QA/UAT programs preferred.

The non-Technical Skills We Expect:

  • Ability to listening to clients, understand their objectives, and providing thoughtful and innovative solutions to them achieve their investment goals.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team, requiring minimal direction and follow-up.

The base pay range for this role is $139,700 - $232,900. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
