Description:

The Role
Here at Fisher & Paykel Appliances, we design with people in mind and the lives lived around our products. We aim to create moments of delight together in the heart of the home, sustainably enhancing the quality of people’s lives, now and for future generations.
We are driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous, and curious. As a team, we take a collaborative approach and have a working environment where all ideas are heard, evaluated, and tested against our leading goal - to be the world’s most human-centered appliance brand.
The opportunity…
Due to an internal move, we now have an opportunity to join our Dunedin team of experienced Verification Engineers, Test Engineers and Technicians. As part of the Product Development team, you will interact with a wide range of design engineers ensuring the verification and reliability of designs is well executed.
You’ll work with projects that range from subsystem changes of existing platforms to ground up redesign. Typically, you’ll be multi-tasking across a range of projects, potentially across multiple product groups.

The primary focus of this position will be applying verification principles to our cooking and dishwashing products. This includes:

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to determine project verification requirements
  • Engaging with design engineers and facilitating critical thinking and test planning of their designs to prevent design failure modes
  • Taking responsibility for product accelerated life testing and user-based testing activities
  • Ensuring verification plans and status reports are maintained according to project status
  • Presenting verification results to provide Chief Engineers with a clear view of project risk
  • Capturing issues from trial builds, assisting design engineers with problem solving where required.

What we look for…
You’ll be an engineer with a passion for verification engineering and collaborative communication to deliver the best product reliability to our customers. We are looking for people who thrive in a hands-on environment where you can own the results of your hard work.
You should be curious, innovative, and practical, always striving for outstanding results. You’ll demonstrate excellent organisation skills and the autonomy to plan your own work, multi-tasking where required.
Relevant tertiary qualification and some verification experience, preferably in a product development environment, are required, but we are quite open to how many years’ you’ve been working and would like to see applicants with a broad range of experience and backgrounds.
What we offer…
Our workplace and leadership is designed to allow people to thrive and work at their best. We provide a culture in which all our engineers can constantly develop, working alongside a team of talented and skilled engineers. We offer true work/life balance, competitive remuneration, generous Kiwisaver scheme and buying privileges. Our Dunedin site is awesome, based centrally with cutting edge labs, workshops and supporting technology. We have a lot of fun, enjoy a balanced work/life culture, plus we’re doing great work in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
