The Role: This is an exciting opportunity to join the Breedon business in a newly created role of Product Manager – Aggregates & Asphalt, operating within our GB Materials division. In this role you will be responsible for the development and ownership of the product strategy for all aggregate and asphalt products. You will develop a detailed understanding of the market and customer base for the products, using your insight and knowledge to maximise the performance and profitability of the portfolio. You’ll seek opportunities to enhance the performance of existing products and identify gaps to widen our offering to our customer base in line with their needs.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE

  • Experience in construction materials industry with good knowledge of aggregate and asphalt products - understanding of production, technical and commercial elements would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of the markets and customers relevant to this category.
  • Strong communicator with good influencing skills
  • Comfortable dealing with internal and external stakeholders at various levels
  • Data analysis and turning data into insights.
  • Teamwork and collaboration – ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Project management experience
  • Innovative thinker – comfortable with challenging the Status Quo.
  • Previous product management experience (desirable)
  • Track record of identifying, developing, and launching new products into the construction market (desirable)

Responsibilities:

  • Define product strategy and roadmap to market which is aligned to the overall company strategy and goals.
  • Create plans for new products, existing products, and product withdrawals.
  • Develop business cases, customer targets, technical requirements, revenue/profit targets, ROI for new products.
  • Evaluate and understand product performance and make recommendations for actions where appropriate.
  • Product lifecycle management
  • Developing Product Profit improvement plans & facilitating improvements across operational businesses
  • Ensure Product performance is transparent at all levels of the organisation and work with Technical, Digital, Data & IT to unify / simplify access to data & insight; support regions in setting financial targets and budgets.
  • Conduct market research to develop market trend and customer insight.
  • Develop and manage the product development funnel.
  • Engage with colleagues across the organisation, including the leadership team, regions, operations, commercial, technical and marketing to bring new products and product marketing campaigns to market effectively.
  • Develop positioning and messaging for your products/ranges
  • Develop and deliver product training to internal and external stakeholders
