Job Summary:
As a Product Manager you’re the mastermind in helping set the roadmap, translating requirements into detailed plans, fostering innovation, and connecting users with dynamic solutions. Your role involves roadmap planning, orchestrating the product backlog, collaborating with a talented team, and translating visionary ideas to compelling user stories. Your exciting journey includes working with Product Directors, Clients, Solution Architects, and other stakeholders in the thrilling world of electronic payments, where you explore new opportunities and revitalize payment methods across various channels.
You will support a variety of payment capabilities with a focus on Automated Funds Transfer AFT / Electronic Funds Transfer EFT and Bill Payments in support and modernization of existing capabilities, preparing for regulatory and industry change, and analyzing emerging opportunities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Establish and maintain expertise for Central 1’s family of products, application functionality and high-level architecture with a focus on Automated Funds Transfer AFT and Electronic Bill Payments
  • Representing Central 1 and our clients on Payments Canada Committees related to your products
  • Assess the impact of regulatory changes and updates to Payments Canada Rules, prepare client communications, and incorporate changes into overall roadmap and planning cycles
  • Communicate industry changes, release notes, milestones, upcoming fixes, features, and overall roadmap to ensure client awareness
  • Develop a deep understanding of our target market by having empathy for customer or segment, approaching with curiosity, and eliciting requirements from various internal or external stakeholders
  • Translate customer needs into business requirements and work within technology constraints to build solutions that can be used across multiple clients
  • Prepares detailed specifications, use cases, workflows, and other supporting documentation for the development of modifications and enhancements as part of the overall modernization of AFT to a new platform
  • Work with other stakeholders to gather information and document service level requirements and operational procedures for the solution
  • Build and maintain a product backlog of requirements from Central 1 clients as we well as internal teams
  • Iterate rapidly on minimum viable product MVP to get feedback and focus on getting the right fit before investing in a larger solution
  • Collaborate with the payment operations team, developers, support, sales, and marketing to ensure a smooth process from specification to launch
  • Assist in the development of business cases, identify gaps or opportunities, summarizing the costs, benefits, and measurable success criteria
  • Participate in presenting proposals/recommendations to management and/or clients with background information, analysis, and options to meet business needs
  • Provide training and support (documentation, demos, webinars) to users as part of delivery of new products or features
  • Build and maintain product and/or system documentation, detailed specifications, including workflows, operational procedures, configurations, etc.
  • Liaison between technical, operational staff and clients in resolving planning and implementation issues, incidents, problems

What you’ll have

  • Demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically to gain an understanding of industry trends and client needs, creating a value proposition for the client and the product vision and applying critical thinking to assess risks and opportunities effectively.
  • Strong relationship building, negotiation, and leadership skills; ability to persuade and lead a squad of diverse stakeholders across matrix organizations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with a high degree of comfort in speaking with senior leaders, ability to influence others through persuasion
  • Experience with payments, regulatory environment, Payments Canada Rules including Automated Funds Transfer / AFT and Bill Payments
  • 5+ years of related experience as a product manager / product owner in software and services product management, preferably in financial services, credit unions, or banks.
  • University degree in computer science, business administration or other related discipline with an IT focus (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and understanding of business analysis principles and methodologies
  • Experience working on projects through all stages of the project life-cycle
  • Familiarity and understanding of agile development process, with a technical and/or financial background considered an asset
  • Must be detail oriented and diligent, with excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable with managing own workload, with minimal supervision, with a focus on the efficient throughput of changes and supporting the team in successful delivery
  • Comfortable working on multiple features, roll-outs, or enhancement projects of varying size and complexity, with conflicting deadlines in a team environment
  • Willingness and capability to learn new approaches, tools, and applications
  • Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around them
  • Strong self-starter who can work in a collaborative team environment but isn’t afraid to bring forth views even if unpopular
  • Passion for innovation and a “can do” attitude.

Salary: $107,800
The salary represents the job rate determined for the successful candidate who is fully competent in the role. The actual salary will vary depending on market conditions and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
