Description:
ABOUT ELLISON INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (EIT)
The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) works to develop and deploy advanced technology in pursuit of solving some of humanity’s most challenging and enduring problems. Guided by world-leading scientists and entrepreneurs, EIT seeks to accelerate innovation by driving scientific and technological advancements across four humane endeavours: health and medical science, food security and sustainable agriculture, climate change and clean energy, and government innovation and the era of artificial intelligence.
EIT Oxford is a new interdisciplinary research and development facility that bridges The Oxford Science Park and Littlemore. Set for completion in 2027, the state-of-the-art facility will have 30,000m² of research laboratories, an oncology and preventative care clinic, plus educational and meeting spaces. The new facility will further EIT’s current partnership with the University of Oxford and become the new home for Ellison Scholars.
Please visit eit.org for more details.

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
As the SaaS Product Manager, you’ll have an incredible opportunity to shape the direction of our product and drive its success in the market. In this hybrid role, you will spend three days a week in the office, collaborating closely with our teams, while the remainder of your time can be spent working remotely. You will play a pivotal role in working closely with our science and development teams to define the product, create user stories and user journeys, and refine product ideation based on the value proposition and user feedback.
In this role, you will also lead UI/UX collaboration efforts to ensure that our product is intuitive and easy to use. You will work directly with customers and stakeholders to create user journeys and define success criteria. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for customer-facing visits, discussions, and attending conferences to gather insights and stay ahead of market trends.
We are at the beginning of our journey with a minimum viable product (MVP) in place, and we’re now focused on scaling our product offerings. You will be responsible for understanding the market landscape and competitors, working closely with the Head of Product (HoP), Chief Science Officer (CSO), and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to define the “North Star” product vision, creating milestones in the product roadmap, and aligning success criteria with user needs.
There are two key strategic and deliverable elements to the role:
1. Product Development and Lifecycle Management: Translation of scientific experiments into defined products, managing the product lifecycle, aligning product development with our strategy. Working with the HoP while collaborating with science and development teams to ensure alignment with user needs and market demands.
2. Product Ideation and Roadmap Refinement: Overseeing the refinement of product ideation into a clear roadmap, driving value and innovation through user-centric design, and creating user stories with clear success criteria to guide the development process.
Building a future-proof, scalable product roadmap that aligns with user needs and market trends is crucial to the success of this position.
As a SaaS Product Manager, you will be a versatile professional, capable of working as part of a small, agile team. Reporting directly to the HoP, you will play a foundational role in a team poised for rapid growth. In-office collaboration will be key, while the flexibility of hybrid working will ensure a balanced approach to productivity.
EIT Pathogena’s applications range from research and pathogen surveillance to clinical use worldwide. In line with our strategy, the platform will be scaled to accommodate more users, pathogen pipelines, and data aggregation.
We’d love it if you take pride in your work and proactively suggest ways to improve our product, platform, and processes. The role will be challenging, with each day bringing new ideas and problems to solve.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Collaborating with scientific and development teams to define the product, create user stories, and design user journeys based on customer insights
- Working closely with customers and internal teams to define success criteria for product features and releases
- Leading UI/UX collaboration efforts to enhance product usability and design
- Engaging in customer-facing meetings, presentations, and visits to gather insights and feedback
- Building an understanding of the market landscape and competitors
- Refining product ideation into a detailed roadmap based on the value proposition and product strategy
- Working with the HoP, CSO, and CTO to define the “North Star” product vision and create milestones in the product roadmap to achieve it
- Attending conferences and industry events to stay informed about trends and innovation
- Engaging with users and industry leaders to understand user needs
