At Lloyds Banking Group, we’re passionate about a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses, and communities. In Insurance Pensions & Investments (IP&I), we’re building a digital proposition that will enable everyone in the UK to secure their financial future.
An exciting opportunity exists for a new Product Owner to join us in the Protection Platform. Our aim is to push boundaries within the UK Protection market to protect more people and deliver outstanding outcomes for customers. As Product owner, you’ll have a focus on our core Life, Critical Illness and Income Protection product development.
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about Protection and the customer, someone who innovates & inspires others to collaborate, someone who demonstrates a growth learning mentality.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Craft the Product Vision and own elements of the Product roadmap, ensuring compliance of overall Product.
  • Support development of Platform or Lab objectives and key results and provide product performance and benefits realisation data.
  • Collaborate with feature teams to define user stories for new features, that meet our customers’ needs and optimise existing capability to improve the customer journey.
  • Collaborate across teams for large-scale changes and works towards successful and safe implementation. Taking accountability for product change governance, business readiness activities, and incident investigation/prioritisation.
  • Be an authority in the Platform with line management responsibilities and a coach by mentoring others in the organisation.
  • Support development and prioritisation of Lab epics, features and stories which support Product strategy. Inputting into business plans and technical roadmap as required.

Why Lloyds Banking Group:

What you’ll need:

We’re not looking for you to know all the answers. We need people that thrive with being given a problem and finding a solution. Those who are comfortable when they need to say no; who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo.

  • Experience in a Financial Services industry, preferably Life Insurance.
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of Protection market dynamics, technology, and customer needs. A passion for products and staying on top of new technologies will be very useful.
  • Experience in applying agile methodologies to optimise innovation development and delivery. Significant experience with agile development methods & tooling e.g. Scrum, Kanban, Jira & Confluence, and experience of leading & working as part of an agile team.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver change, working with engineers, designers, and analysts. Able to create a product vision and define work to be done, prioritising based on customer needs and business goals
  • Strong analytical abilities to assemble and interpret data related to product performance and benefits realisation. This includes tracking key metrics and using data-driven insights to drive product improvements.
  • Experience of line managing others and crafting an inclusive team environment that motivates, attracts, and retains talent. Through your phenomenal communications skills, you have the ability to encourage teams with energy and passion. Dynamic and adaptable, you can influence without authority, trusting and empowering others with responsibility and comfortable challenging senior leaders.

Our focus is to ensure we’re inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms.
We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%.

  • Share schemes including free shares.
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.
  • 30 days’ holiday, with bank holidays on top.
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies.
