Position Overview
The Product Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in our Quality organization to ensure the greatest customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Director, Global Quality, you will be responsible mainly for the customer and supplier relationships of our current products. We are looking for a candidate with a great expertise in customer and supplier quality management and relationship building, excellent problem solving skills and experience with IATF 16949 and AIAG Core tools.
Position Responsibilities
- Quality Compliance of our current product from our Supply Chain to Customer
- Non-conformance management in our Supply Chain and towards our customers. Using the 8D methodology swiftly resolves quality issues to maintain and elevate customer satisfaction
- Quality related Customer and Supplier Relationship Management
- Maintains, monitors and improves key quality metrics and reports to management as appropriate
- Participates in cost analysis and process optimization studies
- Coordinates and performs/participates in supplier and customer APQP
- Reviews, submits and approves supplier and customer PPAP
- Change management for supplier and customer related product and-or process changes
- Supports in developing and improving department procedures as required
- Respond to all customer meetings and inquiries
- Prepare cost evidence for supplier charge back and customer claims
- Support the process of warranty return analysis
- Performs supplier audits
- Prepares and leads customer audit
- Cross functional team work and problem resolution, involving engineering, purchasing, material planning, etc. as necessary
- Interfaces with our in-house manufacturing plants as necessary
Position Requirements
Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering, Science, or equivalent educational or work experience level
- 3+ years experience in Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality Engineering, Components Manufacturing or related functions in automotive industry
- Experience in powertrain or electrical components manufacturing is an asset
- Experience with engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Skills and Requirements
- Great communication skills and proficient in English (spoken and written)
- Great skills in customer relationship management and presentation skills needed
- Familiar with the fundamentals of ISO 9001, IATF16949 and ISO 14001
- Strong knowledge of AIAG processes (APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, SPC), knowledge of VDA processes is an asset
- Microsoft Office Proficiency; experience with Minitab is an asset
- Audit experience; Internal and/or external Auditor certification is an asset
- Experience working in a multinational organization and with multinational suppliers and customers
- Strong analytical and structural skills
- Open minded, team player with a strong drive and positive attitude
- Passion for quality and a proactive mindset
- International business travel
Salary Range
