Job Description Summary
As the Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs Specialist, you play a critical role in the execution of the PSRA activities. By monitoring and interpreting various chemical regulations, preparing hazard communications documents, and supporting global product stewardship initiatives, you contribute to our commitment to product safety, compliance, and business sustainability. Your proactive approach to addressing distributor and customer needs, as well as providing support across internal functions, is instrumental in upholding our industry leadership and reputation for responsible product management.

Location: Porto / Portugal
Responsibilities
1. You monitor chemical regulations and determine product regulatory status under these regulations (primarily chemical inventories, food contact and personal care regulations) by using lists, databases such as LOLI, or government authority websites.
2. You prepare hazard communications documents (Safety Data Sheets, product labels, product confirmation forms) and maintain product safety and compliance data in the WERCS (product stewardship database and hazard communications tool).
3. You prepare registration dossiers to obtain new inventory listings and support other global regions as needed.
4. You support global product stewardship programs as needed to fulfill the mission of the department such as but not limited to Product Risk Reviews, new regulations, and Product Export Control and Eco Label assessment.
5. You respond to distributor and customer product safety and regulatory compliance needs.
6. You provide product stewardship support to other internal functions (e.g. Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, Research and Development, Marketing and Sales).
Decision making
Typically, you have the authority to develop and align projects with impacted stakeholders to secure legal compliance of Elementis product portfolio.
A candidate with appropriate experience would also have the authority to take decisions on project execution, including timelines, milestones and resource allocation within budget (within established parameters) and may have the opportunity to develop into a Senior role.

Plans and aligns: Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals

Technical Knowledge and Skills

  • Working knowledge of chemical legislation in EMEA region (e.g. REACH, CLP, KKDIK) and special regulations on food contact, cosmetics and other application-related fields
  • Solid experience in generation of hazard communications documents (e.g. Safety Data Sheets, product labels, product conformation forms).
  • Intermediate project management skills and experience working with various functions and people to deliver projects within budget, on time, and with high quality.

Position Requirements
Education: A minimum Bachelors in Chemistry or in Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Environment, Biology or other science discipline related to Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE)
Experience: One to three years minimum of Product Stewardship or regulatory compliance experience
IT Skills: proficiency with Office 365 tools, including Powerpoint, Sharepoint, Word and Excel. Develop knowledge on the use of specialized product stewardship and regulation drive databases (Wercs, JDE etc.).
Language Skills: Verbal and written fluency in English.
