We are seeking an experienced Product Validation Manager to lead the test and validation of heavy-duty commercial trucks. The successful hire will lead a test and validation team focusing on truck durability, chassis systems, and electrified powertrain systems. This role involves overseeing full-vehicle validation, including battery packs and electrified components, as well as lab management. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, communication, and leadership skills, with a proven track record in validating truck durability and chassis systems to meet safety, reliability, and regulatory standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in product validation, with a focus on truck durability and chassis systems in medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
- Proven experience with validation of truck chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking, and structural integrity.
- Strong expertise in durability testing, including fatigue, vibration, and endurance testing.
- Experience with battery packs and electrified systems validation for commercial vehicles.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management abilities, with experience building and leading high-performance teams.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and standards related to medium and heavy-duty trucks and electrified systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience with validation tools and software (e.g., CANalyzer, MATLAB, Simulink).
- Familiarity with chassis system testing methods and durability simulation tools.
We anticipate this position will pay a salary range of $90-130k CAD/year. The compensation posted is a guide and may not represent the final amount offered to a candidate. Compensation will be based on candidate skills, qualifications, and overall experience level.
Compensation at Hexagon Purus includes base salary, comprehensive benefits package, variable annual bonus, and 6% RRSP match.

Responsibilities:
- Medium & Heavy-Duty Truck Validation:
- Lead full vehicle validation with a primary focus on truck durability and chassis systems, including suspension, steering, braking, and structural components.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure truck chassis systems are thoroughly tested for strength, longevity, and performance under various real-world conditions.
- Develop and implement validation protocols that assess the overall vehicle durability, including vibration, fatigue, and endurance testing to simulate long-term heavy-duty use.
- Battery Pack & Electrified System Validation:
- Oversee the validation of high-voltage battery packs, electric motors, power electronics, and other electrified systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks.
- Manage validation processes that include performance testing, thermal management, safety, and lifespan assessments of electrified components.
- Chassis & Powertrain Systems:
- Focus on the validation of chassis-related systems, ensuring that steering, suspension, braking, and frame integrity meet regulatory and customer performance expectations.
- Ensure the seamless integration and validation of electrified powertrain systems, ensuring compatibility with chassis structures and durability standards.
- Durability Testing:
- Lead durability testing efforts, utilizing specialized equipment and facilities to simulate the life cycle of trucks under various conditions, including extreme climates, high loads, and long-distance travel.
- Analyze test data to identify potential areas of failure and work closely with engineering teams to recommend design improvements or modifications.
- Lab Management:
- Oversee lab operations, including personnel, equipment, and resources, ensuring all tests are performed efficiently and accurately, while adhering to safety standards.
- Continuously improve lab processes to optimize validation testing for truck durability, chassis performance, and electrified systems.
- Project Management:
- Develop comprehensive validation plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies for truck durability, chassis, and electrified systems.
- Ensure validation projects are completed on time and within budget, coordinating with cross-functional teams to align validation efforts with product development milestones.
- People Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians, driving a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration.
- Set clear expectations for team members, provide performance feedback, and support professional development initiatives.
- Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for validation activities, presenting test results, risks, and recommendations to key stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Communicate complex validation data effectively, ensuring that insights are actionable for engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
