Description:
PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
We are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Production Assistant to join our team at a Floradale Feed Mill Ltd. As a Production Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the overall production process and ensuring the efficient and timely manufacturing of high-quality animal feed. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The Production Assistant will work closely with the production team to meet production targets while maintaining strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably in a feed mill or related industry, is desirable.
- Basic understanding of production processes and equipment used in feed milling.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the production team and other departments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and regulations.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with production software or systems is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional technical or vocational training in production or manufacturing is a plus.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
- 1 + years of previous production or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in animal/agriculture experience preferred, but training is available.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB (LIFTING, STANDING, ENVIRONMENT)
- Must be able to lift 25kg.
- Standing.
- Moving bagged feed on hand carts and mini trays.
- Temperature will fluctuate within warehouse during seasonal weather changes.
- Occasionally dusty with blow downs.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the operation of various equipment and machinery involved in the production process, such as mixers, hammermill, roller mill, flaker, pellet mills, conveyors, and receiving equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols to ensure the production process runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Measure and weigh ingredients accurately according to established formulas and recipes.
- Monitor the production line, identify any issues or deviations, and report them to the Shift Lead or Production Supervisor
- Conduct regular quality checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished feeds to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with the production team to maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning equipment, removing waste, and sweeping production areas.
- Assist in equipment setup, changeovers, and routine maintenance tasks under the guidance of maintenance technicians.
- Keep accurate records of production data, including batch numbers, ingredient usage, equipment maintenance logs, and production reports.
- Support inventory management by monitoring ingredient levels, reporting shortages, and assisting in stock rotation and material handling.
- Participate in training programs to enhance knowledge of production processes, equipment operation, safety procedures, and quality control protocols.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by suggesting process enhancements, cost-saving measures, and efficiency optimization strategies.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality control, sanitation, and environmental regulations.
