Southland Trailers is excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a full-time Production Assistant Manager on our Finish Line. We are looking for an experienced and motivated leader who thrives in a lean manufacturing environment and is passionate about driving continuous improvement and delivering results. Our ideal candidate will embody our core values of open communication, hard work, and a positive attitude.
At Southland Trailers, we value work-life balance and offer a four-day work week, with working hours from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous managerial experience is required. Management on a production line in a fabrication environment would be preferred.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management strategies (budgeting, human resources, resource allocation, etc.)
  • Strong capability to multitask and change directions responding to problems effectively.
  • Concise communicator who can work independently and within a team.
  • Meticulous organizer who continuously improves efficiency and effectiveness to achieve the right results.
  • LEAN Manufacturing experience is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct the value stream for a specific product or product line, ensuring alignment with operational goals.
  • Set clear priorities and assign tasks to team members to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Drive improvements in production capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Demonstrate a continuous commitment to process and quality improvements.
  • Ensure production schedules are met on time, maintain delivery deadlines, and uphold standardized work practices, while meeting quality and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement LEAN manufacturing strategies to enhance departmental efficiency and performance.
  • Prepare and present key reports at weekly leadership meetings.
  • Lead daily team meetings, including morning briefings and end-of-day wrap-ups.
  • Address equipment stoppages promptly and coordinate necessary repairs with the maintenance team.
  • Manage team member performance, including providing constructive feedback and handling progressive discipline when required.
  • Promote ongoing training and professional development, ensuring team members are fully qualified to perform their roles.
  • Foster a positive, motivated, and collaborative work culture within the department.
