Production Chemist
Huntsman has an opportunity for a Production Chemist who will join our Advanced Materials division in Duxford, UK. The Production Chemist will provide specialist knowledge in support of the standardization of continuous improvement, development and growth of Quality, Safety, Productivity, Effectiveness and Efficiency across all areas of Production.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Production Chemist, you will have the following responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that EHS is consistently applied and visible in standard operating processes and operating environment. Support continuous improvement, working towards a zero-harm culture.
- Support the use of leading and lagging measures to actively manage EHS and PSM.
- Advise on matters of safety, process safety and quality in relation to process and chemical solutions in production
Continuous Improvement
- Support improvement of Productivity and safety by application of specialist skills.
- Support portfolio of departmental projects (Continuous Improvement and standardisation).
- Fron line support role in the education, support and standard setting for Quality, productivity and continuous improvement with Production team.
- Support Production in maintaining and implementing Process Quality Standards across the department.
- Lead and Support Investigations for the department for both safety and quality to completion and support CAPA implementation.
Production Day to Day Operations
- Act as a technical expert to support day to day delivery of KPIs.
- Act as a technical support function to Production Management team.
- Apply specialist technical knowledge to assist Production in identifying improvements to maximise productivity, efficiency and effectiveness through Small to large (CAPEX) projects.
- Support and clearly communicate as central liaison to assist in on-going continuous improvement of productivity, quality and safety within the department.
- Review Process Instructions, Standard operating procedures and Work instructions from a technical point of view.
- Be responsible for supporting Production with PHA action management and resolution.
Experience and Competencies:
We are looking for experienced candidates with excellent communication skills and a solution focused approach.
- PhD / M.S / BSc in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in a production or process development area, preferably in a multinational (industrial) company.
- High focus on application of specialist knowledge to enable improvement.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience of applying tools and techniques to solve problems within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge and experience of working within a chemical process environment.
- Knowledge in organic chemistry, polymeric chemistry and epoxy chemistry.
- Knowledge in chemical engineering and understanding of chemical production process.
- In-depth knowledge in analytical methodology and proficient with statistic principles.
- Excellent Team Player with excellent communication skills.
- Role model and able to positively influence others.
- Able to deal with ambiguity and priority setting.
- LEAN tool experience such as VSM, SMED, Kaizen.
- Computer literacy and high proficiency in major IT tools (SAP, MS Office etc.).
- Detail orientation.
- Project Management skills.
- Multitasking and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Fluency in English.
