JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

In support of ISUZU Motors South Africa’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for a Production Engineer in the Technical Operations Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Trade certificate.
• At least 3 to 5 years process and quality experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
• Sound knowledge of IMS (Isuzu Manufacturing System) requirements .
• Operational knowledge of production process and quality management systems.
• Knowledge of Safety Systems.
• Knowledge of ISO Quality Management System (ISO 9001).
• Knowledge of Environmental Management System (ISO14001).
• Knowledge and understanding of HR and IR policy / practices.
• Knowledge on Launch Process and execution thereof.
• Knowledge of Problem Solving including Red X Statistical Problem Solving.
• Sound knowledge of Jigs and Fixtures and adjustments thereof.
• Sound knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical functions including drive train.
• Sound knowledge of Engine/chassis, wheel alignment and DVT operations.
• Sound knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing Processes, Systems and Controls (torque, sealing, welding, dimensional data interpretation)
• Be prepared to work overtime and able to travel
• Have a valid Driver’s License.

• Responsible for leadership, oversight and maintenance of process and quality activities by developing, configuring and optimising of manufacturing processes from inception through to start up and certification of programs as well as monitoring; adherence to the manufacturing and quality processes, control points and equipment, implementing CIs’ and cost reductions; facilitating corrections to nonconformances within process control points including problem solving through cross functional teams and adherence to IMS.
• Accomplishes manufacturing team results through IMS conformance and achieving BPD objectives and methods, by providing quality and production assembly process documentation and standards, providing adequate training on required processes during launch and steady state activities, showing the correct processes and methodologies, doing robust problem solving to prevent quality spills and improve processes or out of standard conditions, applying lean manufacturing initiatives, supporting change management processes, and supporting flawless implementing of Plant Launch activities.
• Responsible for safety in their area by proactively driving the safety culture, providing a safe work environment, ensure that all safe working practices are fully known to the team and documented and engaging with Production and Quality teams through safety conversations.
• Accomplishes quality targets and prevents Field Action, GCA, DRR and DRL spills by engaging with and auditing Quality and Production Team Members following Std Work as per the written standard operation sheet, job element sheet and product quality standards. Conduct as per the schedule Start of Shift Check Layered Audits, Process Audits, PFMEA reviews and HLCP audits as per Schedule.
• Initiate and manage with SQE support and or CKD support Non-Conforming Material investigation both In-Plant and at supplier by validating inspection standards/ equipment/ processes and assisting root cause analysis and rectification.
