Job Description
The Production Engineer works closely with the Production Engineer Supervisor to ensure that high quality proactive maintenance and reactive support is provided for the Broadcast Production Systems. In this role the engineer will be responsible for completing a number of tasks involved in setting up production facilities in Abu Dhabi and in other parts of the Middle East, North Africa and internationally, working to a very high standard in order to ensure the output is both professional and technically.
Key Responsibilities

Strong operational skills on a broad range of television remote broadcast and production equipment such as: SNG satellite uplink/downlink equipment, Microwave, Bonding equipment, Video Encoding, ENG/Studio cameras and support equipment, A/V routers and infrastructure, video switchers, audio mixers, teleprompters, video servers and storage devices, IP subnetting, network switches and routers, media decks, fiber optic links, signal processing and transcoding devices, production communications (intercom) and computer systems/ IT networks architecture.

• Provide 24/7 re-active support to the systems and services on the field, coordinate properly with the Production Engineer supervisor to ensure that systems are fully operational before tuning to live coverage.
• Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and fault finding at the earliest possible opportunity, ensure that all issues are logged and reported to high standards.
• Carrying out regular tests and preventive maintenance on all PE equipment on regular basis, prior and after coverage.
• Responsible on equipment setup, Packaging and creating an updated kit list noting the current work status of PE equipment.
• Working with internal and external stockholders and personnel to finalize the logistical requirements and necessary work permits.
• Working closely with the field operation team and overseeing the entire production process to guarantee a high-quality outcome that meets SNA technical standards, team’s and equipment’s safety on field.
• Support on system integrations and synchronizations.
• Prepared to travel at short notice.

Key Skills, Experience and Education
-

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Electronics, or Communications Engineering. Additional knowledge in Network Engineering, Audio and Video Engineeringز

• 5 years’ Experience in broadcast field production from DSNG to IP streaming and MCR operationsز
• Fluency in Arabic + Good in English (speaking & writing)ز
• Significant experience in newsgathering operations / satellite/Streaming field operations is requiredز
• Knowledge of Audio and Video over IP networking, Multimedia Streaming technologies, Streaming protocols like NDI, DANTE, SRT. ST2110 standard and related systems will be a plusز
• Knowledge of setting Live events and webinars over social media streaming platforms like MS Teams, Zoom, Skype, CDN.
• Capable of setting up Communications for live broadcast in the field.
• Resourceful for any new set up on the field.
• Has a full understanding of production techniques including Operations on Camera, sound technics, lighting, Podcast recordings, bonding equipment, IP Streaming etc.
• Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations frequently encountered in field remote environments.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal, written) required.
• Demonstrated competency in a wide variety of technology and business contexts, including analysing and solving complex technical problems.
• Ability to work independently and autonomously in a team-based environment.
• Capable of setting up Communications for live broadcast in the field.
• Proficient with both Windows and MAC.
• Good knowledge of Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint. Auto CAD experience would be beneficial.
• Understanding of editing suite set ups.
• Understanding of International Customs and Duties for shipping and travelling with equipment such as a CARNET or Load Lists.
• Capable of working for long hours.
• The ability to work under pressure and in teamwork environment.
• Analytical and commercial thinker.
• Detail oriented and organized with the flexibility to manage multiple priorities effectively.
