Väderstad is seeking a skilled Production Engineer to join our dynamic team at our Langbank Production Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and support our manufacturing processes. This role involves close collaboration with production teams to ensure that Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements are met.

Education/Experience

  • University degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree and registered or able to register with APEGS
  • Membership of an Industry Related Professional body an asset
  • Able to demonstrate experience of working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)

Requirements

  • Providing current production with “fast response” troubleshooting. Set up and maintain all work cell and/or department standardized work instructions/procedures for the extrusion process.
  • Assist in training production personnel on operating new or existing tooling, equipment, and processes. Work closely with Project Management Team to support new product launches, engineering changes implementation and product / process continuous improvement initiatives and related activities.
  • Assists with production planning tasks ensuring plant is ready for upcoming builds.
  • Provides point of use routing and the assembly sequence for all components through the subassembly and assembly line.
  • Prepares proposed design changes or revisions to correct the current design.
  • Continually identifies, suggests, and implements cost reduction projects to reduce the overall cost of the machine we build.
  • Assists with audits that measure the bill of material and routing accuracies, identifying root cause of inaccuracies.
  • Coordinate, lead, and participate in various multi-disciplined teams in addressing and fulfilling various corporate objectives associated with, manufacturing process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitment. Provide quote direction for new business related to tooling, new materials and processes as required.
  • Participate in lean and six sigma manufacturing initiatives as they relate to site as assigned such as 5S, value stream mapping etc.
  • Act as a change agent within production to educate and influence team members on process implementation and improvements.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve oval production efficiency.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and production outcomes to inform management decisions.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to production teams to ensure effective and safe use of the toolbar assembly.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols for the operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines.

Work Conditions

Physical Efforts:

  • Majority of time spent, moving, gathering, assembling.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Some time spent in an office setting
