QUALIFICATIONS
University graduation in Arts, Design, Education, Public Administration, Business or a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

- Excellent writing, speaking, and editing skills.
- Ability to organize, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivation, ability to work well independently and with a team using good interpersonal skills.
High-level skills in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.Graphic artist skills with Adobe Illustrator and desktop publishing skills with Adobe InDesign are highly desirable.

Responsibilities:
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Manager, Document Design and Production, the Production Lead:
- Manages production of desktop publishing, editing, proofreading and graphics from branches in the Provincial Assessment sector, including operational assessments, practice tests and field tests for 20 diploma subjects in English and French, as well as 10 subjects in English and French for the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC).
- Works with staff across the branches to develop standards and guidelines for documents produced for students, teachers, administrators, and parents that effectively communicate and support provincial assessments in Alberta’s kindergarten to grade 12 education system and a pan-Canadian high school credential.
- Ensures that all documents, in both print and electronic formats, meet high editorial standards and are consistent with government, department and legal requirements, including the Copyright Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).
- Proofreads Kindergarten to grade 12 subject area documents and CAEC material to ensure accuracy of grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization; acronyms and abbreviations; and consistency of style and format.
- Coordinates arrangements for printing of assessments, where needed, with printers to ensure effective use of resources and preparation of high-quality assessments within standards, timelines, and budget.
- Supervises assessment productions’ editors, desktop publishers, and artists.
Manages and maintains assigned budget for the Document Production Unit and ensures expenditures are within forecasts.Prepares and maintains the tracking tools for the Document Production Unit.
