We are currently recruiting for a Production Machine Operator, in our Dryer department, at our Winnipeg, Manitoba location. The primary role of the Dryer Operator position is to operate the dryer safely and efficiently in order to process, dry, and package dairy products required for the manufacture of safe and high-quality food products. The Dryer Operator is a member of the MDI team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve department goals, and provides support to other roles within the dairy operations as required.
This position requires night shift work (7pm- 7am), weekend, and holiday rotations in a 24/7 operation.
The successful candidate will be required in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

EDCUCATION / EXPERIENCE/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES

  • Education - University Degree preferably in a related discipline
  • Experience - 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment related to food or a similar industry. Dryer operation and/or dairy plant experience an asset.
  • Computer skills - working proficiency in computerized environment; use of ERP, HMI systems plus Word, Outlook, and Excel an asset.
  • Able to lift up to 25 kg (55 lbs.)
  • Comprehension - Able to understand and follow detailed and specific instructions
  • Communication - solid verbal and written English language skills
  • Food Processing knowledge - working knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP and other quality systems.
  • Mechanical Aptitude – able to evaluate and troubleshoot equipment or processes and implement solutions.
  • Safe Work Priority – you care about keeping yourself and co-workers safe.
  • Team Work – Able to work as a contributing and reliable member of the team.
  • Solid work ethic - Capability to work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the dryer for product, perform routine maintenance to ensure ongoing dryer operation, and shut down dryer at end of production run.
  • Operate and trouble-shoot the dryer in order to complete daily targets.
  • Complete required documentation. I.E. record production information on batch sheets
  • Package and palletize finished product.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Contribute to the writing and review of standard operating procedures and standard work documentation for processes and tasks in work area.
  • Run cleaning and sanitation procedures (CIPs & COPs) on all equipment after production run.
  • Comply and uphold quality systems requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and protocols related to job responsibilities and tasks including wearing all PPE when handling chemicals.
  • Act in accordance with company policies related to personal and group health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Engage in permanent and continuous learning by participating in on-job, internal and/or external training programs. Apply learnings to work environment and role.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement programs such as coaching sessions, sharing of knowledge and skills, and contributing to team efforts to achieve assigned balanced scoreboard goals.
  • Any other duties that maybe assigned.
