Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Based onsite at our Toronto MDF Manufacturing facility, the Production Manager is responsible for the overall production of the plant including leadership of the hourly work force, leading and developing the supervisory team, raw material consumption and yield, quality, cost of production and satisfying customer demand. They will be involved in continuous improvement projects throughout the manufacturing group.

THE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE ARE:

  • Safety: Provide safety leadership to create a culture where safety is a core value and the team is driving for an injury-free workplace.
  • Operational Excellence: Lead a production team that is passionate about being professional and industry leading in all aspects of plant operations.
  • Leadership: Develop a production team that is inspired, motivated and organized to achieve great results over the long term.
  • Production Planning and Control: Creating and monitoring production schedules and adjusting as needed to meet production goals and forecasted demand. Ensure performance excellence across all shifts.
  • Customer Service: Ensuring a consistent, quality, product supply to meet sales forecasts.
  • Lean: Implementation of continuous improvement and operational best practices.

AT A HIGH-LEVEL YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Creating and monitoring production plans and schedules to meet production goals and forecasted demand while minimizing the cost of raw materials consumed and maximizing productivity.
  • Leading, coordinating, and directing production functions of the plant by setting expectations and monitoring delegated activities.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership in implementing change to institute operational best practices and reduce process variance by driving continuous improvement through Lean activities (5S, SMED, Kaizen events, etc.)
  • Initiating improvements to remove bottlenecks, improve quality, and lower costs including employee training, capital improvements, maintenance (TPM, PM improvements), validating costing data, downtime analysis, production line modifications and the addition of new capabilities.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment at all times by ensuring that all safety and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Ensuring customer service through the delivery of a consistent and high-quality product supply.
  • Responsible for ensuring hourly production crewing sheet is maintained weekly by the Production Supervisors. Work closely with the on-site Talent Acquisition Specialist.
  • Keeping a close eye on employee hiring for hourly production employees, to include trends in turnover.
  • Skills Matrix, making sure the current skill level for all hourly production associates is captured and cross training is planned for accordingly.
