Description:

Location: Westbury, Wiltshire
Package: Basic annual salary £33,000 – £37,000 (depending on experience) plus bonus & flexible benefits package including up to 27 days holiday (Plus additional annual leave purchasing scheme)

The Company
Macfarlane Packaging, Manufacturing & Design have an exciting opportunity for a Production Planner with career ambitions within the composite packaging industry. Based in Westbury our specialist manufacturing division designs and manufactures bespoke protective packaging solutions. Our customers are UK wide and span several sectors including Aerospace, Defense, Electronics, Industrial and Medical.
Production Planner role
The Production Planner shall report into the Production Manager and be responsible for working effectively with all relevant personnel to achieve total customer satisfaction with particular emphasis on OTIF, reductions in inventory and increased productivity. The ability to develop and improve systems to support the growth in business would also be advantageous. Working in a fast-paced environment the role will involve planning labour and production processes, general administrative duties, stock management, managing key suppliers and labour costs.

Production Planner Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales process to effectively plan workload and material ordering to meet customer demand
  • Ensure all customer orders are collated and tracked through the planning and production processes and that status is accurate and available
  • Create and maintain the production plan managing the works orders and workload across the factory to achieve customer requirements, monitoring, and reporting against capacity
  • Control work in progress across the factory and work within space and cost constraints
  • Support the Production Manager in controlling labour costs
  • Create daily production schedules and disseminate through to the relevant departments
  • In conjunction with Customer Services Manager be responsible for monitoring and amending reorder points and economic order quantities as appropriate
  • Liaise with Sales, Manufacturing and Design staff to plan New Product Introduction trials and bespoke product runs/samples, as well updating run rates and material structures of existing work
  • Liaise effectively with Managers and Team Leaders to assist in improving efficiencies on the shop floor
  • In association with operational personnel report and investigate any orders out with estimated times
  • Support the business with ad hoc tasks such as stock take
  • Collate be-spoke reports and KPIs as required

Personal Activities/Skills

  • Excellent IT skills especially in excel spreadsheets
  • Experience of managing a production plan in a multi-functional organization with proven record of improvements within planning function
  • Be experienced and/or qualified in the theory, application and delivery of planning tools and applications
  • Develop sound knowledge of products, equipment, machines, and processes within the Westbury manufacturing facility
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues in a professional manner with responsibility for customer deliveries
  • Be flexible in their approach to the demands of the job and ensure the needs of the business are met
