We are currently looking to recruit a Production Planner (onsite) to join our award-winning business in Heywood.

The Production Planner plays a crucial role in manufacturing and production environments, being responsible for ensuring that the production process runs smoothly and efficiently. They will coordinate and optimizise the production workflow to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards, as well as securing that raw materials are available on time to fulfil the required production plans and to meet the desired customer service level.
Ultimately this is an important role within supply chain management, working to optimize inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of materials

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensuring works orders are raised that outline what needs to be produced, in what quantities, and by when.
  • Inventory Management: Ensuring that inventory levels for raw and components are maintained at optimal levels to meet production needs.
  • Coordination: Working closely with various departments, such as quality assurance, global sourcing and manufacturing to ensure smooth production processes. Manage and orchestrate subcontracting activities to secure timely execution to meet finished good production requirement.
  • Resource Allocation: Managing the availability of raw materials (Raw material and components planning) and other resources required for production.
  • Monitoring and Adjusting: Continuously monitoring production schedules and adjusting the master plan on a rolling basis to address any issues or changes in demand and supply.
  • Creation of the supply plan utilizing ERP or external planning tool to secure supply plans are fulfilled on time
  • Plan both short and long-term to align supply and demand to support inventory requirements to meet service level. This is translated in releasing a weekly Production Plan to be signed off with Operation taking into account supply plan fulfilment, capacity availability and BOMs material availability. Flag supply risks proactively generating a backorder.
  • Set, implement and maintain planning parameters: MOQ/EOQ, Safety Stock, Inventory Level
  • Execute supply planning standard work and drive standard work adherence metrics: Produce to Plan/Order fill Rate/Safety Stock Level on Raw Material and Components.
  • Identify opportunities to drive sustainable service, inventory turns, and non-working inventory improvements.
  • Assist business group operations with capacity planning, demand, and supply synchronization, and executing against strategic business targets.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively back to supply planners and line managers on inventory risks (stock out/Excess/Slow Moving inventory) and backorder level on supply plan fulfilment.
  • Communicate regularly, proactively and effectively back to line manager on raw material and semifinished inventory at risk (stock out and slow moving inventory) products.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production plans
  • Set preferred stock levels and prevent excess inventory

About You:

  • The successful candidate must have at least a proven track record within production planning with a bachelor degree in supply chain or related field preferred.
