JOB DESCRIPTION
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is currently seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for scientific research to join our team as a Production Scientist I in Antibody Production and Custom Services. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a valuable contribution to our world-class manufacturing operations in Rockford, Illinois.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field, such as Biology or a related area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in antibody production, purification, and immunoassay techniques advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, goal-oriented setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform antibody production, purification and testing processes, ensuring flawless execution and adherence to quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to successfully implement new manufacturing processes and techniques.
- Implement production plans and closely monitor key performance indicators to ensure achievement of targets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to maintain a continuous and efficient workflow.
- Strictly adhere to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of all experiments and production activities.
- Commit to producing and maintaining the highest standard of quality in antibody production.
- Ensure timely delivery of production work and projects.
- Perform with assistance of batch records, standard work instructions, operating procedures or shadowing with a trained associate:
- Protein isolation and purification
- Chromatography (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion). FPLC experience advantageous.
- Protein modification (cross linking, fluorescent, protein and small molecule conjugations)
- Protein lyophilization
- Carrier protein conjugations with peptides or fusion proteins
- Antibody purification / modification experience
- Antibody validation via various functional tests, i.e. WB / ELISA / IHC / IP / IF / FACS
