Description:
THE POSITION
You will be responsible for production related activities across the Pirbright manufacturing facility; enabling the large scale production of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Bluetongue Virus (BTV) antigens and finished products in a timely and cost effective manner - fully compliant with all applicable rules and regulations, like EU, UK and company good manufacturing practice (GMP), bio-safety and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations. You will also need to formulate antigens for customers both on site and external, abiding with Biosafety and Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
You will need to be fully conversant with production requirements to anticipate specific needs and organise resources as required. You will maintain and deliver washed and sterile equipment. You will carry out antigen control operations as required with the inclusions of handling liquid nitrogen and dry ice, formulating trial blends and performing sterility testing.
This role is vital to the production of FMD and BTV antigens and final product that in turn provides critical products to market. This process is business critical to the supply of vaccines to customers worldwide.
We are hiring two Permanent full-time positions and two 15-month Fixed Term Contract positions. All positions are fully site based at our manufacturing site in Pirbright.
REQUIREMENTS
- GMP experience is useful but not essential
- Previous experience in a similar role or highly regulated environment is desirable
- Ability to manage time effectively, to plan and complete work to schedule
- Knowledge of HSE, bio-safety standards, GMP regulations as well as main tools and principles of operational excellence
- Evidence of autonomy and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
- A positive, ‘can do’ attitude
- Good IT skills eg Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Responsibilities:
- Use of autoclaves by performing regularly testing cycles, cleaning and sterilisation of materials
- Preparation and delivery of production equipment (e.g. sterile glassware, final product bottles) as required by customer departments
- Actively participate in daily Tier 1 PSQDC (People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) meetings and lead the meeting as required
- Ensure area housekeeping is well managed
- Execute production operations in the formulation of animal health vaccines according to defined procedures and ensure the integrity and quality of the product
- Participate in gowning qualifications and aseptic processes
