Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for coordinating production, workflow, and manufacturing productivity. This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. This role is a working supervisor
with direct reports.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Proven mechanical abilities and skilled with hand tools.
•Proficient with inventory management software and other industry standard software and with MS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). •Ability to work independently and in a team. •Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise and lead. •Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. •Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed. •High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, organization, and adaptability. •Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs. •Must have strong problem solving, discretion and confidentiality abilities.
EXPERIENCE
•Minimum 3 years’ experience as a foreman or supervisor in a manufacturing environment •Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in metal fabrication environment
EDUCATION
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
•Possess a valid driver’s license. •Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies up to 50 pounds.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and allocate the daily assignments for fabrication employees.
- Oversee fabrication organization and workflow.
- Plan and schedule training. Provide onboarding and training for new employees and maintain an overall training matrix to identify any gaps.
- Coach and mentor team leaders and fabrication employees to grow in their capabilities.
- Develop and train all Fabrication employees in job duties, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Conduct shift line up meetings, provide guidance, and gain feedback to the other shifts.
- Perform town hall meetings once per week to address Safety, Quality or Employee-related concerns.
- Conduct Safety and 5s audits monthly.
- Hands-on participation in creating Tracking Sheets, Cut Lists, and Weld Packages.
- Supporting the Fabrication Manager in reviewing fabrication drawings.
- Delegation of “Quality Checks” to Fabrication Team Lead, including checking in-process and processed parts.
- Checking that operations is following employment laws. Examples are but not limited: Adhering to LOTO procedures, occupational incident investigation procedures and especially all company policies.
- Delegation of “Physical Flexible Work Support” to Fabrication Team Lead during capacity constraints.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities, when necessary, with other departments.
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve team productivity, efficiency, and quality control.
- Ensure all team members follow proper safety procedures.
- Ensure tools and machinery are properly used and maintained.
- Participate in developing and coordinating plans for continuous improvements.
- Perform other related duties as required.
