Description:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for providing a range of hands-on production tasks and planning for the operations at Norseman Protective Solutions. The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality and safety. The supervisor will be responsible for staffing, production scheduling, workplace safety, quality control, and cost management. Furthermore, they will facilitate a positive workspace by promoting Norseman culture and values.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for providing a range of hands-on production tasks and planning for the operations at Norseman Protective Solutions. The supervisor will be responsible for coordinating daily production activities to maximize productivity and minimize cost while maintaining quality and safety. The supervisor will be responsible for staffing, production scheduling, workplace safety, quality control, and cost management. Furthermore, they will facilitate a positive workspace by promoting Norseman culture and values.

Job Duties

  • Work with Human Resources on recruitment and selection process
  • Schedule daily work plans for hourly employees
  • Train, coach, develop and motivate plant employees
  • Verify timecard entries by employees for bi-weekly hourly payroll
  • Conduct probationary and annual reviews with employees
  • Liaise with Human Resources regarding employee investigations and performance management
  • Ensure Norseman’s Safety program is adhered to by all employees
  • Ensure staff adheres to established manufacturing processes
  • Inspect manufactured products for quality workmanship
  • Investigate discrepancies from inventory counts and cycle counts
  • Liaise regularly with Purchasing to ensure raw materials are available for manufacturing products
  • Communicate with Inside Sales and Operations Manager concerns, shortages and delayed deliveries
  • Assist with daily yields and order entry
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of plant employees to ensure high quality products are produced in a timely manner
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing production environment
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in management or supervisory role with direct reports
  • Exceptional understanding of production processes
  • Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing experience an asset
  • QMS experience an asset
  • Budget reporting an asset
  • KPI reporting an asset
  • Mechanical aptitude is required
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
