Description:
PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Role Summary
This position will work with the Production Manager in supervision of plant operators/warehouse persons in the areas of training and implementation of operations strategies. They will be responsible for implementation and maintenance of the housekeeping program as well as enforce and improve safe operating practices. This person will support and foster business policies and objectives, while ensuring a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive compliance with safety and regulatory requirements by performing regular audits.
- Maintain Operator overtime and vacation schedule, approve vacation requests and approve timecards.
- Engage Operators though shift huddles, safety walks, training opportunities etc.
- Work with shift leads to ensure proper communication is being sent out from each shift.
- Coach system operators to do preliminary investigations into NCP as produced and communicate findings.
- Manage housekeeping program and enforce good housekeeping practices.
- Manage rework and quality plan execution.
- Responsible for morale and safety of production personnel.
- In conjunction with engineering, support the training of operators in the manufacturing processes by facilitating regular check-ins and communicating training statuses to the Production Manager.
- Must be able to fill in for Production Manager’s day to day tasks in their absence.
Competencies
Required:
- Minimum of 5-10 years of industrial experience, preferably in chemical manufacturing with at least 3 of those years being in a leadership role. Technical degree a plus but not required.
- Must have strong understanding of all aspect of day-to-day plant operations.
- Team player with good relationships with peers, subordinates, and superiors.
- Good personnel management skills.
- Ability to work a 2nd shift schedule.
- Must have the ability at all times to reach all work areas in the plant (i.e. climb ladders, walk catwalks, handle heights to 50 feet, etc.) to lift up to 50 lb. or to open and close large valves, to don emergency equipment, and to expeditiously evacuate if required.
Recommended:
- Good personal computer skills, preferably experience with MS Office.
- Supervisory training.
- Training in organization and time management.
- Strong background in a quality management system, SPC, and/or continuous improvement
- Some course work in chemistry, management or business.
- Relevant experience within or knowledge of a PSM regulated facility.
