Description:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in manufacturing / production management or a related field of study ; and/or equivalent related work experience
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 certified quality control systems, lean manufacturing principals, Just in Time (JIT), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Process Management (TPM), team-based
  • Production Approach - Focuses on measurable and near-term results and outputs; emphasizes efficiency, cost control, and refinement of processes and procedures that produce incremental gains
  • Willingness to Deal with Multiple Tasks - Works through multiple priorities concurrently; uses data management tools to organize information versus rely on memory.
  • Takes Personal Responsibility in Individual Contributor Role - Demonstrates attitude and commitment to take personal responsibility for results, even when in team environment with no authority over others
  • Advanced computing skills – Microsoft Office, e-mail etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the organization

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE:

Display exceptional leadership skills to provide overall direction to manufacturing teams producing products that exceeds customer requirements while adhering to corporate policies and cultural tenants. Establish and achieve aggressive targets for cost management, safety, schedules, member relations, customer satisfaction, and quality systems compliance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads and manages operation members ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met on daily basis
  • Be an advocate for safety by ensuring all safety procedures and policies are adhered to as per provincial standards
  • Ensure company policies, rules, and regulations are followed (incl. shop floor safety program) to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
  • Ensure production standards are followed to produce a quality product and eliminate scrap
  • Achieves schedule completion consistent with demands and expectations.
  • Participates, with peers, key support elements and oversees staffing, equipment maintenance, tooling requirements to improve overall business results.
  • Spends significant time on shop floor effectively interacting with members across their respective shifts ensuring environment is conducive to achieve optimum results in all areas.
  • Provides team and member goals, direction, training, support, feedback, and recognition to improve both team and member performance.
  • Assign manpower to maintain production schedules and meet delivery dates
  • Manage the vacation schedule to maintain and meet production needs
  • Maintain an organized plant-floor for proper material flow, 5S standards
  • Reporting daily production performance and ensure all reports are completed at end of day
  • Coordinate communication meetings with teams for information sharing, problem solving and policy enforcement
  • Assist with managing the use of equipment on the plant floor (proper use by operators and through maintenance requests) Supervisor – Maintenance, and 2nd and 3rd shift supervision
  • Supervise and direct all people on respective shift, e.g. maintenance, shipping, cleaners, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
