ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join the Train Control Scheduling Team to lead a team of Yard Schedulers and Asset Health Evaluators working within the daily execution space to optimise planning and scheduling of rail production, fault response and maintenance.
As a supervisor, you will be accountable for production performance in the world’s first fully autonomous heavy haul railway from our state-of-the-art Operations Centre.
Reporting through to the Train Control Scheduling Superintendent,

Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • All aspects of frontline leadership with a strong focus on people and culture.
  • Leading a multidisciplinary team of skilled yard schedulers and asset health evaluators (rollingstock and wayside)
  • Oversee Yard Scheduler work activities to ensure delivery of scheduled wagon and loco maintenance. Manage escalations as required to external stakeholders.
  • Oversee Asset Health work activities to ensure Network failures and response management is adhered to.
  • Manage production delay escalations to ensure rapid resolution and communicate these to the wider Rail Division as required.
  • Use data and information to support decision making and deviation management.
  • Prepare metrics and feedback required for reporting purposes and identification of improvement opportunities
  • You will be required to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels across Rio Tinto Iron Ore, in particular other execution teams within the operations center and the wider Rail Division.
  • Lead teams through change with a culture of continuous improvement

To be considered for the role the following outcomes are desirable to be successful for the role:

  • A WA Current C Class Driver’s License
  • Strong demonstrated leadership, people management and negotiation skills
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience leading teams or projects through change
  • Strong written and verbal communication capability
  • Experience in the following fields would be highly regarded:
  • Scheduling and logistics
  • Asset health and railway condition monitoring
  • Rail operation
