To support our progress, we are currently recruiting for a Production Team Leader - Days Only to come and join our team at our Nostell Factory, WF4 1QH
\n
We are looking for talented and enthusiastic people to become an integral part of our new, exciting, state-of-the-art factory with a capacity to be able to produce more than 47 million brick slips every single year! However, building the factory is only part of the story because in order to bring it to life, we need to find the very best people to work in it!
\n
The Production Team Leader is a shift based role which may vary in start and finish times as some flexibility is required to suit factory needs and demands. You will be expected to carry out a variety of production related duties to ensure that factory and group procedures are achieved, maintained and improved.
\n
The Production Team Leader is an important multi-functional role within the Factory Leadership Team. The Production Team Leader reports directly to the Production Manager and must provide the relevant cover for the Production Manager when it is required.
\n

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

\n

\n

  • Good level of Health & Safety awareness and knowledge ideally holding IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum\n
  • Good level of people leadership skills and development including experience of dealing with Employee Relations (ER) and conduct issues, ideally holding ILM Level 2 or equivalent as a minimum\n
  • Demonstrable Leadership skills and competencies\n
  • Self-starter who is self-motivated with the ability to work alone\n
  • Team working with a “One Team” attitude\n
  • Previous manufacturing experience\n
  • Ability to learn to operate ALL key automated manufacturing equipment and mobile plant / MHE\n
  • Willingness to undergo further training and development, having a growth mind-set.\n
  • Excellent communication skills\n
  • Numerate & literate\n

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

\n

  • Working understanding of Lean / CI manufacturing methodologies\n
  • Fork Lift Truck (FLT), mobile plant / MHE driver is advantageous.\n

Responsibilities:

Health & Safety

  • Follow and promote ALL Ibstock Safety Rules, leading by example and demonstrating the relevant Health & Safety (H&S) leadership behaviours.\n
  • Lead and promote a positive H&S culture by following ALL training and adhering to ALL H&S policies, procedures and protocols at all times, reporting any and all hazards or issues immediately.\n
  • Resolution of H&S issues raised closing out ALL actions assigned to you.\n
  • Lead, engage and develop your team to ensure the correct “one team” approach to H&S behaviours are demonstrated.\n
  • Ensure ALL team members are trained, signed off and follow defined manufacturing procedures and Standard Safe Operating Procedures (SSOPs) for ALL tasks and for all machinery being operated.\n
  • Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools and ensure ALL required and relevant H&S checks are recorded.\n

  • Lead, engage and develop your team supporting multi-skilling, cross functional and cross departmental working and succession planning.\n
  • Encourage and promote team working at all times.\n
  • Providing team member cover when and where appropriate to maintain maximum output of machinery.\n
  • Monitor time and attendance (escalating any issues when relevant).\n
  • Sensitively manage team member Employee Relations (ER) including leading or supporting conduct investigations and issues.\n

  • Lead and promote a positive quality culture by following ALL training and resolving and or escalating ALL quality issues immediately utilising escalation procedures when relevant.\n
  • To ensure that all finished product meets customer specifications, focussing on “right first time” and positive releasing product as required.\n

Process & Performance
\n

\n

  • Ensure accurate collection and recording of production and downtime data in the Ibstock Manufacturing System (IMS).\n
  • Detailed reporting, analysis and interpretation of production and downtime data from the IMS to support and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives.\n
  • To lead and participate in CI initiatives delivering improved performance across all KPIs and metrics.\n
  • Lead and participate in ALL relevant Tier meetings highlighting key issues and be part of suggesting solutions to key challenges and participating in the solutions.\n
  • Chair / lead the morning team meetings and chairing the daily production meeting when required.\n
  • Achieve and maintain all required targets in line with company and divisional KPI’s; such as, H&S, Quality, Performance, Service, Delivery, Cost, and House Keeping etc.\n
  • Ensure effective handovers and communications across teams and between shifts, sharing best practice to maximise factory performance.\n
  • Creating and maintaining the highest standards of 5S housekeeping and environmental management – setting and maintaining physical and visual standards.\n
  • Lead and participate in audits and audit reviews for H&S, Quality, Performance, 5S etc.\n

  • To plan labour and holidays effectively minimising overtime.\n
  • To lead and participate in Month End Stock Counts.\n

\n
Engineering
\n

\n

  • Identify process improvements highlighting them to the Engineering Team and Production Manager.\n
  • Assist with Engineering when required building basic mechanical skills to allow safe Operator led basic maintenance activities and change-overs.\n
  • Raise Engineering work instructions whilst in work to identify maintenance needs and operational improvements on the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\n
