Description:

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience gained in a Team Leader role within a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety guidelines
  • Experience of delivering to plan right first time, managing workflow and achieving targets
  • Knowledge of 6S in the workplace
  • Good understanding of Lean Techniques.

  • Strong organisation skills with good problem-solving ability
  • Can work as part of a team or independently
  • Good communication skills, able to effectively interact with all key stakeholders at all levels and ensure information is understood and embedded within your area

  • Ability to resolve low level conflict swiftly and effectively, escalating when required

Responsibilities:

  • Plan the department’s workload and report on progress.
  • Allocate duties either directly or indirectly to your team and ensure all resources are effectively utilised.
  • Supervision of the team, including authorising and management of holidays, monitoring of timekeeping and attendance, dealing with low-level disciplinary issues.
  • Report absences immediately to HR and complete reporting paperwork in a timely and efficient manner, conducting Absence Management Welfare meetings under the direction and support of HR.
  • Monitor, develop and coach your team, ensuring reflection of performance goals and KPIs.
  • Recruit candidates to the agreed standards and ensure new starter inductions are carried out and new starters are on boarded effectively.
  • Mentor new trainees and review progress to training plan and provide any further assistance required.
  • Define and prioritise individual training plans for the department.
  • Lead by example and reflect best practice in everything you do.
  • Take responsibility for all HR matters within the shift with the support of local production managers and HR.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and identify any risks.
  • Conduct all activities to the Company’s Health and Safety policies and escalate any safety concerns found immediately.
  • Ensure all HSE and wider company publications are shared (and signed where required) in a timely manner.
  • Actively involved in suggesting and making positive change across all elements of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People within your department.
  • Attend training courses when required.
  • Work proactively in reviewing critical documents relating SQDCP and communicate any information to your team as it is required.
  • Support the Supervisor when required in daily activities.
  • Oversee the training of identified competencies of Technicians/ Operators.
  • Actively work to maintain and improve technical documentation in area alongside support functions including SOP’s, RA, quality control plans etc.
  • Be the point of contact for any technical queries relating to process improvement, R&D, machinery, tooling, or people
  • Attend the daily Production Meeting to communicate issues and gain support from all key stake holders.
  • Be responsible for ensuring RA Questionnaires are written for all newly released RA’s, shared with the team in a timely manner and the tracker is reflective.
  • Utilise the local production boards available during handovers to ensure effective communication between shifts.
  • Support the team regarding the inputting of data into the OEE spreadsheet to ensure all downtime is captured by reason and help drive preventative actions.
  • Ensure that team members follow standardised operating procedures and adhere to quality controls in place like the 357 rule and QIR Process.
  • Attend daily MRB meetings to ensure control of materials unfit for purpose and share lessons learnt with peers.
  • Ensure component traceability is maintained throughout and take ownership of all W/O’s post being raised by the Planning department from both a system and physical point of view, as close to real time as possible.
  • To ensure all results, including Hydrostatic testing are recorded accurately, along with the build verification sheet being fully populated daily.
  • Ensure all equipment is available and maintained including calibration and safety critical equipment e.g. including pre-start up checks.
