Description:

Key Duties: Professional Collaborate with education providers to ensure learning environments are reviewed as required. Act as a resource for all clinical staff and students, and to advise accordingly To comply with all relevant WAHT Policies & Procedures in exercising the duties of the role. To actively participate and contribute towards the setting and achievement of personal development plan and objectives for the team To be responsible for the continued development of the preceptor, mentor and clinical supervision programmes To lead the AHP team in the education around patient care. To carry out responsibilities in such a way as to minimise the risk of harm to children, young people and vulnerable adults, promoting their welfare and raising any concerns in a timely manner in accordance with the Trusts policies relating to safeguarding.
Understand and utilise current research practice and other forms of evidence when auditing or developing practice (clinical or education focused) Ensure that the AHP workforce is developing alongside latest evidence-based methods and thus ensuring high standards of care are delivered across a multi-disciplinary AHP workforce Managerial To be the lead collaborator with departmental AHP leads and to manage AHP Practice Educators team managing priorities, work plans and resource management throughout each department. Responsible for efficient and effective use of resources. To manage time effectively to meet project outcomes. Care for equipment and supplies within sphere of responsibility.
Maintain accurate written and computerised records. To provide progress reports and statistical returns to NHSE- WTE and HEI on and clinical placement activity as appropriate. To maintain current records and progress reports on individual projects and initiatives. To ensure that staff managed by the post holder comply with Trust policies and procedures taking appropriate action where and when required that complies with local policy and procedure Regularly assess potential and performance of AHP staff in accordance with Trust personal development review and action personal development plans.
Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff, helping at Recruitment events as required. Comprehensive Budget management skills, including student data collection tools and the allocation of student tariffs as well as the appropriate use of CPD funds for AHP development To Facilitate and undertake regular well-being and career conversations for all members of the AHP workforce. Leadership To assess development needs and create a culture of reflective practice. Be aware of NHS initiatives and contribute to change management.
To utilise and apply both national and local policies directly relating to the development and support of AHP professions across the organisation (such as HCPC preceptorship framework) To maintain the high standards of the department by defining and setting individual and team objectives. To lead on and understand the different management, leadership, cultures and personalities and recognise the need to adapt communication as appropriate with not only the direct team but the wider AHP team. Training, Education and Development To deliver and facilitate training and education to health care staff and pre-registration AHP students in clinical and classroom settings. To be responsible for the completion of educational audits and the production, development and implementation of action plans in conjunction with CEs and managers and tutors.
To design, plan and implement a learning programme for students, Practice Assessors and Supervisors. To ensure the overall evaluation of learning programmes, designing and/ or implementing evaluation strategies that determine the effectiveness of practice learning experience is completed through a comprehensive auditable process To act as a resource for information about training courses and educational opportunities. To offer educational support to all members of staff undertaking courses and training. Use of Information To maintain databases and records of staff training.
To participate in audits relevant to health care training. Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to patients and information obtained during the course of employment in accordance with Data protection, Caldicott and Freedom of Information Acts. Ensure the maintenance of accurate and up to date patient records in line with NMC guidelines for Records and Record Keeping when in clinical practice. Use of Electronic communication systems, personal computer systems and normal office equipment.
Decisions, Judgements and Freedom to Act To work independently to ensure services are delivered and targets met. To be accountable for decisions affecting their sphere of responsibility. To liaise with senior staff as appropriate issues relating to financial , human resources and corporate quality and governance issues and service developments that have wider implications for services across the organisation. Communication and relationships To liaise and communicate with managers, staff, clients and students at all levels.
Develop effective channels and systems of internal and external communication and ensure all staff kept informed in a timely and appropriate manner. To maintain effective communication between trust, university staff and external organisations. To assist in presenting written and verbal reports to trust board, senior management teams University of Worcester, other Universities and managers throughout the organisation in relation to training and development within sphere of role. To ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with the Trust’s Confidentiality Policy.
Physical, mental, and emotional demands of the post To maintain a patient focus in all service activities. To work flexibly to meet critical short term and long term deadlines. To work alongside staff in clinical settings, undertaking direct patient care and ensure that the individuals can meet the physical and emotional demands of the clinical portion of this role To always act sensitively in ensuring that concerns of staff and students are dealt with sympathetically. To ensure effective management of the service and to attend relevant staff, professional and corporate meetings.
