We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in the Generation Design Department. Under minimal supervision, the Mechanical
Engineer will work in a team environment with engineers and technical support staff on a wide range of machine design, stress
analysis, technical specification and standards development, contractor proposal evaluation, and quality assurance. These
responsibilities are primarily associated with the design of generation assets, such as turbines, generators, and associated
auxiliaries in generating stations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of four years of related

experience.

  • Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering, safety, and environmental standards, codes, and practices.
  • Ability to design machinery, including basic knowledge of and experience performing stress analysis, finite element analysis,

fatigue analysis, and joint design (fasteners and welds).

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others and participate on project teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize concurrent work assignments.
  • Capable of communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have strong software skills in standard Microsoft applications.
  • Required to travel by all modes of transportation, i.e., air, land, and water.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate on project teams and may take a lead role on small projects.
  • Design reliable machinery, equipment, and systems using knowledge of the following mechanical engineering theories: Stress

Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, Fatigue Analysis, Fastener Design, 3D Modeling and Drafting, and Weld Design.

  • Participate in scope development and prepare studies, technical specifications, recommendations, design calculations, design

packages, estimates, manuals, commissioning procedures, and other various engineering deliverables for generation assets.

  • Liaise with stakeholders for correlation of design data, drawing preparation, and purchase/delivery of equipment.
  • Prepare technical specifications and provide support for the procurement of contracts.
  • Review and approve shop and design drawings to ensure they meet design criteria, industry standards, and regulatory

requirements.

  • Perform site inspections and investigations to gather project information.
  • Provide construction support for the enterprise’s generating facilities, including new installations, rehabilitation, upgrades, and

maintenance of existing generation assets.

  • Lead small teams through specific tasks, such as equipment commissioning tests.
