JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager Professional Practice, Skin and Wound and Student Placements, the Professional Practice Lead is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of corporate educational initiatives that support professional practice. The Professional Practice Lead will lead in implementing best practices utilizing the patient and family centered care philosophy.
The Professional Practice Lead will function with a high degree of attention to detail, quality of workmanship, accuracy and ability to prioritize work in a dynamic, fast paced, team setting, often working with competing priorities. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Regulated Health Professional in good standing with their regulatory college.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Minimum three years acute care clinical experience.
  • Minimum one year experience in a professional practice leadership role, preferred.
  • Minimum one year experience in providing clinical education and change management support utilizing adult education principles and evidence-based practice preferred.
  • Membership in professional role-related association preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of interprofessional collaboration and education.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication, team building, facilitation, and coaching skills that encourages positive interactions among all members of the health care team.
  • Proven experience of in the application of project management concepts, knowledge translation and change management preferred.
  • Proven experience in needs assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in the planning and implementation of quality improvement projects.
  • Systems level thinking and ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to review and critically analyze literature and research and to apply findings and theoretical frameworks into clinical practice and standards of care.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Patient and Family-Centred Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective clinical practice leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and participate in/lead interprofessional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to identify gaps and needs for corporate education and quality improvement.
  • Develop, coordinate, deliver, evaluate and sustain corporate educational initiatives related to professional practice throughout the hospital which support the implementation of interprofessional, evidence-based, patient and family-centred care delivery systems.
  • Support the development of initiatives that advance corporate and program/service quality and utilization.
  • Promote Professional Practice collaboration and education through targeted engagement.
  • Utilize continuous quality improvement and change management methodologies in the analysis, evaluation and monitoring of educational programs.
  • Identify and implement strategies to translate and interpret research findings and theoretical frameworks into practice.
  • Assist in facilitating an interprofessional collaboration approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Work with teams to ensure all professional scopes of practice are maximized.
  • Participate in the implementation of Best Practice Guidelines and support the deliverables of being a Best
  • Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) and a Best Practice Spotlight Ontario Health Team (BPSOHT).
  • Review and update policies/ procedures/ standards of care to ensure in alignment with best practices and educational programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
