The minimum rate of pay for a non-BSN Professional Staff Nurse is $31.10.

Responsibilities:

  • Passionately precepts students, graduate nurses, and new hires. Analyzes clinical and behavioral situations for learning opportunities to improve patient care.
  • Seeks feedback and applies continuous professional improvement. Supports continuous learning through sharing research, presenting, and supporting journal clubs.
  • Applies the nursing process within Relationship-Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulates daily goals and care plans involving patients as partners.
  • Practices solid communication skills, articulating patient conditions to other providers. Provides comprehensive patient documentation to promote caregiver communication.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues. Incorporates organizational goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction.
  • Builds caring and compassionate relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Builds and mends relationships within a healthy workplace framework.
  • Role models cultural awareness and addresses horizontal violence and impairment. Maintains work-life balance through prioritization and delegation.
  • Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement. Applies evidence-based practice regularly.
  • Serves on or leads teams launching patient care innovations or supporting a healthy workforce.
  • Serves as a recognized unit leader in clinical expertise, teaching, as a specialized resource nurse, or in evidence-based practice.
  • Provides appropriate feedback to health care team members and participates in nursing peer review.
  • Promotes changes enhancing patient care and unit environment. Leads and participates in successful teams.
  • Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment and analytical skills. Actively participates in unit-level shared governance and hospital-wide councils.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience.
  • BSN required.
  • Annual professional contribution and UPMC-approved certification are required, or a Master’s in Nursing/DNP can substitute.
  • Must demonstrate age-appropriate care skills, knowledge of growth and development, and ability to assess and interpret patient data.
  • Must achieve and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good rating on performance evaluations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with various stakeholders and manage complex tasks.
  • Exemplary clinical judgment and critical thinking required.
  • Must have physical stamina and dexterity for patient care tasks.
