Description:

An opportunity exists for a qualified corporate/commercial lawyer to work as a Professional Support Lawyer in the Dubai office of an international law firm.
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Commercial, duties and responsibilities are as follows:

REQUIREMENTS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE.
  • Fluent English
  • Strong academics
  • Regional experience not required, will provide relocation
  • Added experience as a Professional Support Lawyer within an international law firm is desirable however, minimum of 5 yrs of experience as a qualified corporate commercial lawyer is a must
  • Current or previous experience in a client-facing role, with technical excellence in corporate transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with the Corporate Commercial team on the development of precedents, templates, practice notes and legal opinions.
  • Provide academic and technical legal input for the preparation of memoranda, articles, legal commentaries, client briefings, newsflashes, and other marketing materials.
  • Ensure fee-earners are kept up to date on developments in the law – the latest cases, legislation, and statutory instruments – often through presentation to regular departmental meetings and/or circulation of written materials.
  • Supervise paralegals and interns in the development of knowledge documentation, precedents, and other know-how resources.
  • Encourage associates to embrace the culture of knowledge sharing and identify knowledge champions within the team to assist in maintaining best practices.
  • Prepare and circulate know-how and assist in technical legal training and practice development.
  • Manage knowledge and learning for the practice group, including organising, and delivering practice-facing and client-facing legal training programs.
  • Manage and contribute to the departmental section of the firm’s intranet, information databases and knowledge management systems as required.
  • Liaise with the Business Development and Marketing teams and contribute as required to the production of articles, briefings, newsletters or other materials for circulation to clients or to be published in Law Update and other selected journals.
  • Play a part in the marketing of the department and producing material for, and perhaps presenting, seminars both internally and externally.
  • Work with the Partners, counsel, and associates to identify the best practices, know-how and learning requirements of the practice and to implement the agreed offering.
  • Assist with prioritisation and allocation of knowhow projects and the implementation of the wider knowledge management departmental strategy.
