POSITION SUMMARY

This posting is in anticipation of current and future part-time teaching opportunities starting as early as January 2025.Reporting to the Associate Dean – Human and Justice Studies, with a flexible schedule and in-person classes, the part-time Professor will facilitate the delivery of courses within the above program, incorporating a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies, which are designed to successfully meet the needs of learners.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a Paralegal Diploma with preference for Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D)
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years practice experience as a Lawyer or Paralegal
  • Minimum of 1 teaching experience or a diploma or certificate or degree in Education or as a condition of employment completion of 50-hour education program within 6 months commencement of employment.
  • Experience in employment law, civil litigation, workplace safety and insurance board, Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, Ontario Labour Relations Board.
  • A proven commitment to achieving and developing excellence in others
  • A commitment to lifelong learning in the field
  • A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Advanced computer literacy and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s “Canvas” Learning Management System) commensurate with departmental requirements
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and problem-solving, conflict and stress management skills
  • Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating curriculum is an asset
  • Experience facilitating learning at the post-secondary/adult level demonstrating a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning is a strong asset
  • Experience training others

    Benefits eligibility is based on the weekly assigned teaching hours for the Contract Academic Staff:

  • 1 to 6 hours per week are Part-Time status

  • 7 to 12 hours per week are Partial-Load status
  • 13 or more are Sessional status

The weekly hours will by assigned by your Associate Dean.
