POSITION SUMMARY

Within this context of inspiring innovation and excellence, the School of Nursing is currently seeking a full-time Professor to teach in the Personal Support Worker Program

QUALIFICATIONS

  • If a registered nurse, must possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application * education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application)
  • If a registered practical nurse, must possess, at a minimum, HRA Registered Practical Nursing diploma and be a Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Three years of clinical experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, work-related flexibility, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to advise and positively interact with students is important, as is the ability to work within a team environment.

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will have both nursing and teaching experience and be able to provide academic leadership and to develop an effective learning environment for students. The successful applicant must be a Registered Nurse with current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, have three years of experience in an acute and/or community care setting, and have teaching experience at the College level. Candidates with an RPN designation may be considered commensurate with related experience. This individual will be able to provide leadership; relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; and commit to students and education. Excellent oral and written communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and good computer literacy with respect to standard office software packages and spreadsheets are required. Good critical thinking and organizational skills are also necessary to design, revise, and update courses and to function effectively in a team environment.
These activities will require that the incumbent assist in the development and maintenance of strong industry connections and community partnerships. Lastly, the incumbent will also have the opportunity to participate on college and school committees to advance the College’s strategic priorities.
(Cambrian’s academic year consists of three semesters, and this role may be required to deliver courses during the summer months. Cambrian offers programs and courses in-person, online, or in a HyFlex mode of delivery, which includes in-person, virtual synchronous, or fully online asynchronous participation, and this role may be required to deliver courses in multiple modes.)
