As a School within Monash University’s Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, MRH is dedicated to shaping a sustainable rural health workforce and addressing critical health challenges in underserved areas.
Through cutting-edge education programs, transformative research, and strong community engagement, MRH is redefining rural healthcare. We have major academic sites in Gippsland, Mildura, and Bendigo.

• Rural health workforce and training
• Health service delivery models in rural areas
• The health of rural populations
• The health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

We are seeking an outstanding Director of Research to help us drive excellence and innovation in rural health research. This leadership role involves fostering collaboration, managing large-scale projects, and ensuring our research addresses the unique challenges of rural communities.

As the Director of Research, you will:

• Develop and lead innovative research programs addressing rural health challenges.
• Build and manage multidisciplinary research teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
• Secure substantial external funding and publish research in top-tier journals.
• Strengthen relationships with rural health stakeholders at local, national, and international levels.
• Oversee the financial management of grants and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
• Support the professional development of research staff and supervise postgraduate research projects.
• Represent the School in University and external committees, shaping policy and driving strategic initiatives.
• Promote community engagement and lead professional activities to elevate MRH’s research profile.
