Professorial appointments and evaluations are a critical aspect of the university’s success and reputation. Recruiting high-calibre professorial staff ensures that our institution maintains – and further develops – its high standard of research and education, fostering an environment of academic excellence and innovation. The University has created a new Office of Professorial Affairs to improve its ability to identify, attract and retain top academic talent to our faculties and interdisciplinary centres and build up a robust and strategic framework for planning and managing professorial appointments and evaluations. The mandate of the new office is to support and coordinate the planning and full life cycle of academic recruitment and promotions in interaction with all stakeholders and to further develop the processes for these and other professorial affairs activities.
As part of the creation of the new office within the rector’s portfolio, the University is looking to initially hire for three roles:
- Team leader
- Professorial appointments and evaluation specialists (2 positions)

Responsibilities:
YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the team leader of the Office of Professorial Affairs, you will develop a robust yet agile procedural framework to streamline appointment processes and ensure the smooth conduct of individual appointment processes, from profile development to offer. While you will be the primary responsible for activities related to appointments, you may also contribute to other professorial affairs activities.
You will bring specific expertise and be directly responsible for:
- With HR and dean’s and director’s offices, establishing regular reporting and dashboarding of professor appointment and evaluation activities to allow for real-time monitoring of activities and key performance indicators
- Working with the team leader to ensure and further develop the interfaces to the various services involved in academic recruitment (HR, finance, infrastructure) together with the Secretariat of the Board of Governors
- Contributing to the drafting and reviews of key policies and procedures with the top management, internal audit and across services, and ensuring updates of all relevant tools, and relevant guidelines and templates
- Managing multistakeholder projects in process design and system review/implementation in these areas
- Liaising with and advising faculty and centre leadership on all formal procedural matters related to professorial recruitments and appointments processes
- Ensuring key procedural steps for which the rector is responsible, and advising on all steps of relevant processes
- Drafting information material for management, employees, and external parties, and organising and delivering targeted information sessions
