Program & Activation RPN, Inpatient Mental Health - FT

at  Alexandra Marine General Hospital

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Continuing education with a focus on Mental Health, Addictions and/or therapeutic facilitation preferred (i.e. Gentle Persuasion, PIECES)
• Current BCLS certification
• Current registration and Certification of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Experience facilitating group sessions, providing adult education and/or providing therapeutic activation preferred
• Minimum one year experience with Mental Health and Addictions patients
• Mental Health First Aid

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Ability to manage a variety of patient conditions
• Ability to organize related activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations and rapid change
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team to provide optimal patient care
• Ability to work weekends and rotating shifts
• Good attendance and work record is essential
• Self-directed, motivated team player with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
• Sound problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Aseptic Technique
• Computer literacy and Meditech knowledge and experience
• Current Acute Care Hospital experience
• Current competence in Blood Glucose Monitoring
• Medication Administration
• Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training
• Responsible for completion of OPOC
• Strong patient assessment skills
