QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in a Communication, Business Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field supplemented with a minimum of 4 years progressively related experience as a Project Manager or Coordinator, Policy or Program Analyst.
Equivalencies will be considered.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Business Services and Governance, the Program Analyst plays a key role in tracking and analyzing Environment and Protected Area’s (EPA) Red Tape Reduction initiatives and regulatory reduction opportunities. This position ensures that EPA’s objectives are met through critical thinking, data analysis, and aligning information across various tracking systems managed by both Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction (SARTR) and EPA. The incumbent is expected to work directly with program areas, influence outcomes in alignment with Red Tape Reduction principles, and ensure accurate, consistent information flows to stakeholders and senior officials.
The Program Analyst also works closely with the Alberta Energy Regulator, Agriculture and Irrigation, Forestry and Parks, EPA’s Boards, and other agencies, ensuring alignment and reporting of progress on regulatory initiatives. By fostering a culture of regulatory efficiency across the department, this role supports education and capability to reduce red tape. Additionally, the position helps identify gaps, provides solutions, and tracks successes, ensuring that Red Tape Reduction objectives are communicated effectively both internally and externally.
The role is also critical in liaising with the lead ministry for Red Tape Reduction, Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction to ensure that departmental plans and reports meet the legislative standards for Red Tape Reduction, ensuring transparent and accurate reporting to Executive and stakeholders. This position ensures that the department meets its legislated obligations while fostering an outcomes-based regulatory environment that enhances industry competitiveness and supports government priorities.
