Title: Program and Camp Coordinator – South Region
Reports to: Events, Outreach and Volunteer Manager
Location: Hybrid position, working minimum two days a week out of either:
Niagara Office – 7150 Montrose Road, Niagara Falls, ON L2H 3N3
Hours: 37.5 per week; must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
Annual Salary: $60,000-$65,000
Duration: One year contract, possibility of extension

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Events, Outreach and Volunteer Manager, the Program and Camp Coordinator, in conjunction with the Region’s Program and Volunteer Coordinator, supports Autism Ontario’s volunteers in achieving identified goals, supports the development of various regional programming and oversees Autism Ontario’s camp operations in their respective region. The Program and Camp Coordinator works closely with the Region’s Program and Volunteer Coordinator and with Autism Ontario’s Fund Development Team on different initiatives to promote ASD awareness and advocacy across the province.

Qualifications:

  • A degree/diploma in a related human services field (SSW, Volunteer Management, etc.)
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years experience supporting individuals with Autism
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years experience with program development
  • NVCI (Non-violent Crisis Intervention) certificate
  • First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in workshop facilitation, social group work/community organizing is an asset
  • Experience in supervising volunteers in a non-profit setting is an asset
  • Must reside in the Niagara region. Ability and means to travel; a valid driver’s licence is required
  • Bilingualism (French/English) considered an asset
  • Must be proficient with various computer programs including data base management, email, Microsoft 365 applications and have familiarity with social media and other technology tools and approaches
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, neurodiversity, equity, inclusion, anti- racism, anti-Black racism, anti-ableis

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Region’s Program and Volunteer Coordinator to oversee all proposed region-initiated programs and ensure they are following the policies and procedures of Autism Ontario.
  • Support volunteers (parents, self-advocates, and professionals) in achieving the identified goals.
  • Oversees Autism Ontario camp operations in the assigned region
  • Work closely with the Fund Development Team on regional initiatives and assist with supporting fundraising efforts.
  • Research, propose and execute activities for in person and/or virtual programming.
  • Work with volunteer leadership to identify priorities (gaps in services) in the region for families/caregivers and develop a means for communicating those priorities locally.
  • Support and participate in the development of the Annual Plan and Budget with the Regional Program and Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of staff, volunteers, and participants and respond to first aid and emergency situations as required.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are being adhered to which guide volunteer involvement and reflect the overall values of the organization.
  • Plan, supervise, run and evaluate creative programming for campers, providing required supports to the staff team to assist with execution of various programs
  • Review all camper and participant profiles and contact parents via phone to gain understanding of needs.
  • Administer medications and complete documentation required in accordance with Autism Ontario standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
