Central Washington University is recruiting a Program Assistant to join our Admissions team in Ellensburg, Washington. We’re offering a salary, depending on experience, from $38,868 - $51,588 annually plus the awesome CWU benefits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Responsibilities:
THE ROLE:
This position evaluates student applicants for admissibility based upon the Higher Education Coordinating Board, university policies, and the evaluation and interpretation of academic transcripts. They are responsible for the creation, maintenance, storage space and dissemination of permanent application records. They will provide customer service to the public, students, faculty, and staff in response to inquiries regarding the admissions process. All employees are expected to support CWU’s commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment.
JOB DUTIES
- Interpret and apply policies and technical procedures regarding admissions, records, and billing receivables for student academic files.
- Following university policies and procedures, process prospective, pre applicant, new and former student applications for admissions utilizing institutional software.
- Determine admissibility through review of Admissions Index, CADR’s, GPA, and receipt of required documents.
- Following HECB standards, determine if core requirements have been met for all incoming applicants through evaluation of high school and college transcripts.
- Calculate cumulative GPA’s.
- Prioritize workload.
- Initiation and distribute appropriate correspondence daily to students.
- Research and respond using problem solving skills to inquiries on the phone, in person, via email, and standard mail convening the application/admissions process. Each program assistant is responsible for roughly 3,500 prospective students.
- Run admissions statistical reports and batch process reports.
- Merge and print letters daily with CSV data files.
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service to prospective and current students, their parents and the general public.
- Utilizing institutional software, post online forfeiture changes to applicants for admissions deposits, in addition to making the financial adjustments for the amount of the forfeiture of deposit received to the account.
- Remove student holds.
- Calculate admissions indexes, matriculate.
- Update and maintain student checklists and process daily request for term and campus location changes.
- Open, sort, and disseminate incoming mail.
- Perform other office duties such as filing (including quarterly file relocation), faxing, copying, and maintaining supplies.
