Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Assistant with experience working in Mental Health settings and training in Medical Office Administration and/or Medical Transcription to join the Mental Health & Substance Use team working at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12, graduation from an approved program in Medical Transcription and/or Medical Office Administration Certificate.
- One (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of community, social and mental health resources.
- Knowledge and experience in providing culturally competent support services specifically pertaining to aboriginal people.
- Knowledge and experience in Trauma Informed Practice, Harm Reduction and Recovery Oriented care.
- Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.
- Business writing skills.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
