The Program Coordinator is a resource for international student applicants and current NAIT international students. This is a professional position that provides clear and accurate explanations of NAIT policies, processes, and resources to assist students in achieving future career goals through their education choices. This position engages students in the academic planning process and helps students understand how the plans affect their academic and life aspirations. The incumbent will review applications to non-credit programs and make sounds decisions about admission.
This position assesses individual student scenarios and recommends appropriate options and additional services that will satisfy NAIT requirements and to meet international students’ specific needs. The scope of this position is broad, spanning programs and services unique to international students. This position has a detailed knowledge of NAIT non-credit programs, pathways, policies, processes and services and is expected to be able to handle student inquiries independently and thoroughly and ensure Citizenship and Immigration status. This position works in an environment that will typically have peak times of high volume.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

This position is required to have detailed knowledge of the following: Canada immigration policy - particularly, study permits and post-graduate work permits.
A high level of intercultural competency.
Detail-oriented
Works independently while consulting as needed with adjacent departments i.e. ITS, Customer Success, Recruitment.
Ability to apply considerable judgment daily to determine how best to advise international students while also considering both Canada immigration policy and law, and NAIT’s business objectives.
Has a detailed knowledge interpretation, and daily application of the following: Federal Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada Regulations and procedures, pertaining to study permits and post-graduate work permits in Canada.
Employs high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
Effective communication skills - both written and oral with particular knowledge and experience with international students or newcomers to Canada.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RSIA) license.
1-3 years of experience working with newcomers and or international students. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
Bachelor’s degree in business, arts, education, or social sciences.
Higher education experience is considered an asset.
Additional languages to English or experience working or studying overseas is an asset.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $82,189.64 - $108,866.96 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Admin Specialist - O19).

Responsibilities:

This position uses considerable judgment daily to determine how best to advise international students while also considering both Canada immigration policy and law, and NAIT’s business objectives.
Daily support for prospects, applicants, and current students in the non-credit programs by answering inquiries and providing accurate advice that is compliant with IRCC regulations.
Daily Evaluate the urgency of student situation and lay out the appropriate steps to meet the urgency assess individual situations and recommend how to access appropriate program, admission requirements, course, financial, and immigration requirements.
Make recommendations and decisions about how to resolve students’ challenges and requests with minimal direction.
Assists with recruiting students to non-credit programs.
Provides feedback and insights regarding the admission process and program set up contributing to consistent improvement.
Liaises with other departments as needed to obtain information and support applicants and students.
Ability to prioritize many tasks simultaneously that will be time sensitive.
Exercises originality in providing insight into the program’s processes and policies - this is a new program at NAIT, so they will be required to report regularly and contribute to continuous process improvements.
