Description:
The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) delivers programs and services through a lens of reconciliation, as we have been doing since the inception of the PGNFC for the past 50+ years. A key component of this journey is ensuring the voices of each person is heard and included in our trauma informed and culturally dynamic approach; this perspective is critical to reconciliation. We respect and honour people’s stories as they share their experiences, perspectives, and beliefs in the direction we are taking as an organization; we view this as a strengths-based process, where we build upon the multitude and diversity of existing strengths.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s level education from a recognized university in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Indigenous studies or another relevant discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role in the health, wellness, or social services sector, with a focus on counseling or mental health services.
- Experience working within Indigenous communities or organizations and deep understanding of the unique cultural, social, and health needs of Indigenous peoples.
- Specialized training in trauma-informed care, Indigenous mental health, substance use counseling, or crisis intervention is an asset.
- Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution, Naloxone Training, other training as needed.
- Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
- Knowledge of funding, budgeting, and reporting processes within non-profit organizations, with the ability to manage financials.
- Understanding and knowledge of working with people with mental health and/or addictions issues as well as an understanding of the intersectionality of systemic barriers and social determinants of health.
- Experience conducting evaluations, providing employee feedback, and scheduling.
- Crisis intervention skills and the ability to guide staff through complex client and interpersonal situations.
- Good verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills
- Project management ability to develop, implement and monitor programs and services efficiently.
