SUMMARY:
The RSVP Program Coordinator is primarily responsible for contributing towards the growth of active volunteer participation, recruitment of new volunteers and the identification and procurement of new volunteer opportunities in Bexar County through dedicated community outreach. Program Coordinator will maintain incoming volunteer data and follow file guidelines as outlined by RSVP Director, while actively participating in process improvement plans as it pertains to volunteer and station recruitment, retention, recognition, and events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required) or 2+ years related work experience (Communications, Community Wellness, volunteer recruitment, or event planning)
- At least one year experience working with volunteers
- Experience in recruitment, nonprofit, and/or networking preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Strong public speaking and community outreach skills preferred
- Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)
- Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proven ability to accept feedback from RSVP Program Director, and be able to adapt approach with volunteers and stations as needed
- Ability to be innovative and generate ideas that work with ever changing community needs
- Ability to plan, set up and coordinate events, recognitions and public outreach
- Ability to work independently without close supervision and follow through to completion of assigned tasks
- Ability to remain flexible with schedule
- Must cooperate as a team member and demonstrate ability to produce in a result driven environment
- Must be able to handle various projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines
- Must be able to prioritize effectively
- Must handle pressure well
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel requirements for the position includes 80% local and 5% overnight
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Have valid vehicle liability insurance

Responsibilities:
- Actively recruit volunteers 55 years and older for the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program by facilitating recruitment presentations specific to your targeted audience, engaging in senior oriented networking events, and contacting community agencies for support
- Meet/exceed recruitment goals for volunteers and stations as outlined by Program Director
- Ensure volunteer assignments are consistent with the interests and abilities of the senior volunteers as well comply with the requirements of the of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant guidelines and actively present ways to engage new volunteers and volunteer sites
- Compile and maintain data directly related to the growth of RSVP and for the purposes of funding sources
- Ensures timely submission of required monthly data from station coordinators to meet deadlines
- Work occasional nights/weekends to attend community outreach events for the program and or agency
- Resolves disputes and/or concerns between RSVP volunteers and RSVP station managers under the direction of the RSVP Director
- Develops positive public relations/marketing strategies for volunteers and stations by preparing material for newsletter articles, Catholic Charities social media outlets, and direct marketing to stations and volunteers
- Performs new volunteer orientation trainings; covering complete enrollment forms, timesheets, job duties, and explains volunteers benefits and RSVP philosophy
- Provides input into creating, implementing, and monitoring reports and outcome surveys to meet grant performance measures, while actively adjusting presentation approach accounting for audience
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director
